Other non-circular rings from 1890 to present are listed by Highpath here

The O SYMETRIC concept is different from that of biopace as the long axis of the oval in a biopace ring is inline with the cranks.
In the O SYMETRIC ring, the long axis of the oval is at 90degrees to the cranks.
Do they make wheels?

That crank is strange. Looks like a Triomphe or Victory ring, but with an older crank arm. I thought Victory/Triomphe 116 BCD was kind of unique ?

Wouldn't mind having that Gorilla if it wasn't for the flat bar.
and I usually prefer to have a rear brake with the 3 speed fixed hubs.

despite the non crankside picture, there is no fail here.

one day until you can afford to ride that on the hipster spice route?

Remington Lugs FTW...
-
• #30609
yes ed, precisely, that is exactly where i would ride it.
coz ai laik' would get no street cred if ai laik' rode it on ah track innit. brup.it obviously needs raisers, and an arrospok.

I think a rear brake is pretty essential on the 3 speed fixed due to the drive line shunt

looks surprisingly like the lugs on my old Peugeot beater (image not inserted for sake of correctness to the bike porn thread rules)

Looks like an old cinelli milano, worth mega bucks. It is probably on there for period correctness and i agree, the new bars are stupid, needs some zeus bars.
That bike is on eBay at the moment.
I posted a link 2 days ago. The bars are chrome Cinelli Pista and original to the bike.If you're not familiar with Speed Bicycles you should check the collection

Had a chat with robin today.
His view is that the straight inline seatpost is a product of mountain biking, brought into road bikes via tt bikes.
Traditional road seatposts were all set back - clamp offset from the post itself.
The thomson clamp is actually in line with the post itself but the post is then bent to give it layback.
So effectively the thomson is a kinky inline post that ends up giving a similar position to a traditional straight post where the clamp is offset.
bah. doesn't explain the hideously ugly design - and my 10.5 stone frame still managed to snap the crappy clamping mechanism (to be fair that was the ti version - but you'd think that would be strong) and you can get a beautifully curved used moots for the same price of a new thomson

Are there any shifting issues associated with those rings?
It was Brad's front shifting that fucked his World's TT effort. Though that was after being humiliated by Cancellara. Just sayin.

Multi Grooves - I think I saw you at LMNH cafe last week (or maybe week before) with a Moots conversion. It looked sweet - I was the guy sat looking green with envy!

Any excuse, Rik... :)

That's an iteresting way to warm your seatpost on a frosty morning.

I was not aware of a ti thomson.
When was that made?
-
• #30624
I think he meant the titanium bolt used on the Thomson.
-
• #30625
Yep, you can get Ti bolts for them but not a Ti post.
I want to know what this is, though... and where to get one...
