yeah thats gotta be wiggins crazy business. i find these odd rings to be a bit weird, if they made that much difference wouldn't everyone be using them? mdcc tester?
also why the tri-spoke on wiggins bike and not the others?
Wiggins is using OSymetric rings. People have been making non-circular rings with various profiles for almost as long as there has been chain drive, and making various claims for increased efficiency. Some of the claims may be at least partially true, for particualr athletes...
The front wheel might be because only Wiggins has the new frame, and 3/4/5 spoke wheels interact with the fork, particularly, in a different way from the interaction of a wire spoked wheel. I suspect that they have done the relevant testing, and I wouldn't be surprised if the new frame had more space between the fork blades compared with the old oone.

I think it's perfect as is. :-)
I love the MTB above, except the visible rake in the forks doesn't do it for me. I'd prefer straight ones with dropouts sticking out the front - If you get me.

Biopace?
The O SYMETRIC concept is different from that of biopace as the long axis of the oval in a biopace ring is inline with the cranks.
In the O SYMETRIC ring, the long axis of the oval is at 90degrees to the cranks.

Are there any shifting issues associated with those rings?
