"seat stay bridge resulting in a stiffer back end" sounds like bollocks but i think it looks pretty cool...

  • ^^^saw this bike in harvard square the other day...
    looks sharp

  • yuk. Anti

  • a badly brazed frame does not make rat porn

That fram was handbuilt in Madrid by AA ciclos. They're starting up and this is one of their first framesets, a practice one as it were. At the moment, they are building frames for free (you only pay for the materials) to improve their skills and experiment.

I honestly think it is porn worthy.

  • fair play to them.
a rat bike™ is usually a well riden and abused bike, not a new one, made to look old/abused. IMO

exactly. it's the distressed denim of the faux lo pro world = anti

I think it wasn't made to look old, it just wasn't painted after building it

  • that is a sweet ride!!, make the chainset and wheels like the frame! would look mint!
raw frame and forks for the win.

  • bishop just surpassed vanilla in my mind.

  • "seat stay bridge resulting in a stiffer back end" sounds like bollocks

It's probably true, but also likely that the same mass of metal applied as greater wall thickness on the chainstays would have been more effective, especially if they had also saved material on the seatstays by joining them to the seat tube/top tube junction, and reused the surplus to further reinforce the chainstays.

  • my understanding is that bikes flex laterally in the bottom bracket. There is some twisting between the end points (Head tube and dropout), but by far the most dramatic flexing is laterally in the BB/DT/SS junction. Stiffen that up and you've got a sprinter.
