Good rims

I was going to bang on about the fact that they (potientially) offer a nice balance of aero benefits, strength and comfort.
Oh, seems I have.

The Velocity Blunt, also has a asthetically pleaseing cross section.
(Waiting on a pair of these in slave'ster white to arrive in the post.) -

Reminds of the face of the skate fish we accidently caught in our crab net a week ago. Lets face it if you're going to eat fish you have to be OK with killing it. But when it smiles like that...., man that was unpleasent.

It is porn; something photoshopped out of all recognition to be attractive to a certain kind of pervert, yet also unattainable.

Hi Don!
just dropped by to show off? Bit cocky putting this in the bike porn thread no?
Frame looks great but I'm hating that gruesome bar tape. What's your waiting list like?
-
• #19189
all the don walker frames ive seen are made really well, but the builds/finishing are always horrendous.
that thing needs a carbon crankset and a nicer bar/stem combo. im sure it rides great as it is though.

• #19190
what make are those wheels?
-
• #19191
Finely crafted frame.
But the bike overall is ugly as hell.

Also loads of spacers under a negative angle stem. What is it about people that can't get their head around the simplest principles of geometry?
"A Straight Line Is the Shortest Distance between Two Points"
We have two points which need to be connected, the top of the headset and the centre of the handlebar. Taking a straight line from one to the other reduces the amount of material required to provide a given level of stiffness. Getting this connection stiff enough is a good idea if you want your sprint bike to handle right, and making it lighter for free is a no brainer.

It's a good bike but christ, are you still using that awful typography?

Some joker wrapped Don's handlebars with tin foil! Oh the jokes.
Anyway, hows about one of these then?

• #19196
is it readers wives if you built it but don't own it?

Come on, you KNOW I am cocky... and pics that hawt are porn...
Hatin on the bar tape? geeez. You guys are so fixated on style...Wait is only 4 months, at the moment.

Again, hating on the builds... fwiw, the owner is a Product Manager at Zipp. He, like all Zipp employees, are required to ride parts that their company make; iow, he has to use Zipp Bar/Stem, Wheels, SRAM cranks and BB, etc, etc etc. He opted for the shiny tape as a joke...
what make are those wheels?
They are made special for DW bikes (Ha!). They are the ONLY set of 1080 track wheels on earth. Prototype.
Finely crafted frame.
But the bike overall is ugly as hell.Ugly is fine, as long as its FAST! Also, I've seen ugly women ride fast... whats the diff?

He has a belly on him right now. He works 60-80 hours a week and doesn't get to ride like he used to. When the belly comes off, so do the spacers. If he could breathe normally, he wouldnt have the spacers.

See my above comment.

Yes, quite happily. Its only guys like you that complain. Once I had a little poll on another forum with several samples of what I wanted my new font to be. this one won. Plus, when you spend XXXX amount of $$$ on decals, you use them up before designing new ones. If you want, I'd gladly sell you my stash so I can afford a totally new brand/logo.
iow, why is it all about "style"? Ride your bike. Race your bike. Don't obsess with how it looks, its a tool, a method of transportation. Style is for hipsters.

Good answers Don, fair enough. However, of course the comments will be about style... they are after all PICTURES. Hence our ocularcentrism. It's rather difficult to comment on stiffness and handling from this far away! Please don't jump on the pathetic hipster bandwagon- this forum is populated by some of London's least cool people, you should know that.

I've seen people offering "style" as a justification for spacers under a negative rise stem.
I offer no comment on the bar height, and accept your explanantion, but he could immediately lose some of those spacers by fitting a rise stem, and if he's really forced to stay in the SRAM group, a +10° Truvativ Team 3D weighs the same as the Zipp at less than a quarter of the price. If the stem is marginally less stiff than the Zipp, the loss would be more than made up by eliminating 30mm of wobbly steerer tube compared with the -8° set up (based on 100mm extension). Just flipping the Zipp stem over would eliminate 28mm of spacers.
http://alex.phred.org/stemchart/Default.aspx is a handy online calculator to help others to avoid such a faux pas in the future
I love the look of the CXP33. Its only 25mm deep, but they're a nice fast looking shape.
