hippy jefefelipe: Was your bike parked in Kensington on Uxbridge road tonight? Spotted a blue jobbie with bullhorns as well as passing a bunch of couriers. I think fixies and singlespeeds now outnumber Bromptons!! ;)
it wasn't a blue and white frame with chromed forks and stays was it?

not me, I'm south east side stylin' at the moment
route home: eastcheap to cross tower bridge - via cost cutter, tooley steet - drink the pain away on Bermondsey Wall to forget (thomas) pink shirted hell City - a grand 3 mile odd, 15 min ride excluding beer time back to deptford parkrespect if you cycle from Ealing to the City daily, I used to live/work in Ealing, but found the uxbridge road - central london route a right pain, the occasions that I did it

Why are they moving further east while I move further west?
And to think.. I was going to live in Staines or whatever to get a garage for my bikes and save on rent!! :SIf it makes you feel better.. my legs are fscked right now.. but I set a couple of PBs 45min then 44min..

live in Staines, nooOOOh!, I was born in Ashford (Middx.) a mile down the road on the way to Feltham
but then, Ealing isn't all that, unless you live in one of those nice big £1/2m houses (or are they a £1m now?)
I moved to Canada for a year, rather than commute from Ealing to Maidenhead, but can't say I'm any better off living SE London working in London now. -

I'd been told the same about Staines by others but I reckon most areas have good and bad sections and good and bad aspects to living in 'em. I dossed with my friends there when I arrived and I've had no reason to move elsewhere (other than lack of garage). Where I am now is quite nice - quiet, walk to pub and shops, walk to 4 bus routes and train. Those houses would all be £1mill now, easy. Studio for me and my bikes.

this is my bareknuckle
risers, deep v's. no wonder you don't do long distances on it! Bareknuckles aren't very forgiving on bumpy roads / i don't think deep v's help that, ehhh.

mostly I shall be riding this bike in the city because after about 20klicks my hands start to go numb
the rear is wheel is a Phil with mavic Cxp33 and I have the same option for the front
gloves help
BUT
I am building the up the Mercian to go further afield
I really only started riding out of the city in the last few weeks
I have been trying to lose about 3 kilos in weight
and it was just too boring trying to do that in the gym
It funny though when I return from a ride just as soon as I hit city trafficI am in my natural element once again

thats a nitto stem n all, eh? i've got it too, how do you go about taking the riser grips off?
-
• #417
I haven't needed to change the grips but I guess I'd just cut them off with a penknife
I got another nitto stem and some drops but I haven't tried them out yet I am a bit too used to riding with the riser bars

So after all the issues with customs charges and dealing with tubs, the bike's finally on the road.
A pleasure too. I just need to switch the 14t sprocket now for a 15 or 16. Anyone have one to spare? -

lpg Bareknuckles aren't very forgiving on bumpy roads
but compared to my old raleigh, mine's like a cushion!
open pros though innit, not flippin deep vs
RPM: Mine has '56 EAI', or something equally minimalist, but barely visible due to powdercoat. Do we get minimalist points for not even having a frame number?
I think so. :)
