The advantage of band on components is that when you remove the gears and the back brake there will be no redundant brazed on cable guides - it will look much cleaner, cooler and more like a track bike like this.

There's no indication of the brand or tubing in the ad but I think it would be a good one just because it's a nice looking bike and all you'll *need *to shell out for to convert it is a new rear wheel (assuming all the other bits are fine).

It's cheap at the moment although there have already been 18 bids so there's obviously a lot of interest.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the advice. I'll see how much it gets up to but I like the look of it...not sure about the colour though.

thanks for the heads up, after reading through a few threads it looks like a bad fucking idea. the thing that swayed me most was people saying they are heavy..

think i'm gonna do a build instead. i have a specialized allez that is pretty light and it's a lot of fun. unfortunately it also rattles my teeth around in my skull over the bumps like anything which generally puts me off riding it to work and back every day.. so i'm looking for a slightly more forgiving ride.

You can fit a free wheel in place of the fixed cog that comes with, and then fit a Dia Compe clamp on rear brake.

Bit pricier, but defiantly worth it in terms of quality.
