I cant get over the amount of poorly built vintage road bikes NOT being sold at extortionate prices on ebay that have been converted to ss/fixie with simple cable/tyre/bartape and saddle change. I notices this claude butler for £350-+£40 postage .

Seriously though, firstly, it is expensive, and secondly, does he not know how ebay works? It is an auction, you start at zero and the market finds the price for you, which might actually be higher than the dumb starting price you had in mind (probably not in this case though).
I generally do not bother starting to bid when I see, for example, a £100 starting bid on an item which is worth about that. Whereas I would probably go for something starting at 99p, then you're in and it's too late to stop :-) you might end up paying £110 anyway, and that's fine.

And I heard the fixie trend is over-ish in London with most commuter cyclists now looking for touring bikes :)
Yeah, that's what it looks like to me when I look around at who is riding what. Lot's of Dutch-style, and shoppers, and vintage, and tourers, and look at how knackered mine is sort of stuff out there. Seems the trend is diversifying.

Mabye he just doesnt have a bike box, or time to package it, or time to arange a courier or to be in to have it collected? Clearly a tactic....
He's on this forum, been cool guy when I've met him.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, I'm just annoyed that I can't get any of his bargains.
Seems silly to sell stuff that would sell for lots more if he'd post. I'm sure someone who has that many bikes and parts could source a bike box.
It's also less time consuming to pop to the post office than have someone round your house, isn't it? -

I say tactic. I think I meant 'deal', or something. Typing on my phone and not concentrating!
Didn't know there were Pana road frames. Pretty and circa my size...
