Columbus Nemo Somec, not heard of Nemo, what's it like?
-
• #29459
Columbus Nemo, used by Look as well.
I was trying to find the tubing for the LOOK KG253 last week.
Mdcc_Tester helped me with that.COlUMBUS NEMO
(from BikeForums.net)(posted in 2008) "*...Nemo isn't very light. Depending on the size of the frame, and the dimensions of the tubes, it could be barely any lighter than Reynolds 531. Also, Nemo is kinda old, and I don't think Columbus make it any more, but I'm sure there are still some tube-sets floating around. Even in its day, it was heavier than Foco and Ultrafoco. My 57.5cm tigged Cervelo Ultrafoco is
1680g, which is only 185g lighter than my lugged 1988 Raleigh. As someone else said, the current light Columbus steels are Spirit and Life, with Zona being a bit cheaper and heavier, but probably stronger...*"

ex Jan Ulrich diamant track bike frame
a rider like mr. doping ulrich doesn't make the frame better or 500€ worth. stupid.
-
• #29466
I was watching those, thought a christmas miracle would come and EVERYONE would be too busy putting up the tree to remember to bid.
NOS is overrated as I would be scared to use properly. Bikes is for riding.

These look incredibly dangerous to me. They appear poorly engineered to me with the torsional moments created by braking acting laterally against the clamping forces of a single screw, plus the odds of one of the brackets coming loose are multiplied by four times. Anyone who has had even a computer sensor go into a wheel will know how dangerous it can potentially be. I would hope that these are bought as museum pieces only!!!

I would agree- def better ways to clamp brakes- but you have to enjoy the lovely over-engineering of them- looks like the kind of things worked out in a pub and knocked up the next week. You could always have them on the bike just to 'look' legal ;)

I don't want to open up this debate here but i think it is save to asume that Jan wasn't the only one doping at the time the question is rather, who wasn't (no i am not just saying that - I am actually good friends with an ex team telekom rider who rode with him for years). I agree that the price is high but maybe it is worth that to some people and if not u can always try and talk to the seller.

it says he rode it as a youth for his local lub in berlin.
