Have you used a Turbo Trainer?
-
• #26839
I have never used a turbo trainer and can only try to imagine the sweatiness they can produce. I just think its funny that they make and presumably people buy a purpose built sweat catcher for 14quid.

i work in a bike shop, we sell loads of bike thongs (that's what they're called), think about it, imagine you had over a grands worth of carbon road bike, you don't want to get corrosive sweat on your paint or any part of the carbon as corrosion can lead to failing, in addition if you've spent over a grand on a bike what's £15 for something to protect it? pretty logical when you think of it

It would be hilarious if you managed to get catastrophic failure from sweat eating away at your frame.
Anyway I reckon elastic, needle, thread, old towel and a little ingenuity can have you a sweatnet in no time.

You won't believe how much you'll sweat during an hour on a turbo trainer.
don't forget a fan is a must-have.

To cheer you on ??
Why ?
-
• #26844
I'm thinking of getting these to cancel the awful toe overlap on my bike, they're 150s, will the shortness affect the bike in any other way? (apart from having to raise my saddle a touch)

@organisedviolence how tall are you and what is your seat tube length and inside leg?
-
• #26846
I think 5'10 with an inside leg of roughly 33 inches, and the seat tube is 54cm
-
• #26847
I'm 6'1" with 32 inch inseam and I ride a 61cm track frame with 170 cranks and a 58cm road frame with 172.5 cranks.
Sounds like your bike may be too small. I think that a bike fitting may benefit you as there are lots of variables that come into play.

@organisedviolence You could get knee pain as your toe/knee alignment could be out with such short cranks
