Racist
Fascism is the new liberal. I know i'll be sporting my SS jodhpurs this summer.

the mateys on the motorbikes would get more rep in my opinion. they look awesome

• #25733
why exactly do these bikes and their riders look like this? I mean if it's a vintage event and so one, fair enough, I can understand. But the keirin at the UCI track champs look almost as bad!
Clear contrast with the aero-look of the cyclists I think. -

the guy at the top is going to win, his leader's fat.

forks are reversed to get rider closer to the pacer.
I think they binned it cos the pacers were fixing results.
They use steel as its safer. There is also some weird way of glueing on the tubs to prevent the tyre coming off if they puncture.

in days gone by I'd snap that up in 7.5 seconds.

Why hasn't this been sold already?I was sorely tempted and its my size so duly emailed for some decent pics/info about wheel size and they guy has avoided telling me anything and just sent me the same pic from the listing so I'm out for fear of incurring Nigerian Export Tax.
£350 for the whole bike as i have had a e-mail from the seller.

cedywedy they wear those suits and stand to make themselves as big as possible. the bigger they are, the more shelter they can provide for their rider. the lower back bar has a roller attached to it.

There's a pair of other nice road Mercian's on there too at the mo, £50 starting price, very little detail on the components, and non drive side photos...

Man the chainring on that Gazelle stayer is almost as big as the fucking front wheel! Wonder how many gear inches that badboy is pushing?

Yes I figured that out, I've been racing on inline skates before so same sort of idea as pace lining, except that you're at least 1 wheel away from the next guy (hence small wheel tucked in.
I was just wondering why it had to have such retro early century style. And why does the moped rider in keirin pedal with his knees out?
In case you're wondering I've only started to get interest in track racing this year. It might be dead obvious to you but it's quite intriguing to me.I mean you don't really see vintage cars doing the pacing of formula1 do you...

traditionally the handlebars on the keirin motorcycles go down and inward, this is much more of a comfortable holding position. pedalling in the normal way would or could cause knee strike on the ends. i guess.

Who is Piet S, is he on here? I might ask him if he has a touring bike. I am at my wits end searching for one of these fuckers.
Piet Schafthuizen lives in Schiedam near Rotterdam.
I don't think he's on this forum (maybe lurking), but he has a loft full of nice bikes. No website or the like.
He sells some of his road bikes to reduce his collection.
Don't think he has touring bikes. -

I have been to his house, very friendly guy with a lot of nice stuff/bikes/books, have not seen all his bikes in the flesh yet, he was going to put them all in the garden soon and invite some of us to drool over them :D
It's a stayer bike, it's designed to be ridden behind a motorbike on the track.
