The main problem with Ribble is that they have very little re-sale value should you want to sell the bike at a later date. That apart, they offer good value for money.
If your budget is £1k then you've lots of options as that is a very competitive price point due to the cycle to work scheme. Boardman offer very good value, with a high level of finishing kit for the price, the Cannondale CAAD9 is a great frame so you could get that with a cheaper groupset on and upgrade later if you like it. As bp says, there are lots of options out there.

I think they are very ugly frames. But the prices are superb.

It's certainly not a Colnago C50 but the full Ultegra 6700 groupset is nearly £600 so to get a carbon framed bike with the groupets for £400 more is a no brainer.

£500 more surely? Good job you're not an accountant.

Very true... i was looking at the SRAM Rival one at the same time (which is £1K) and got confused like.

^ Nice price but you had to get to Lostwithiel (in Cornwall)... unless you convinced them to post.

Well I've now narrowed it down to the Boardman team or one of Ribbles offerings, but I'm just not sure which one offers more for the money - around 7/£800 I want it mainly to commute 17 miles to and from work, rides on weekend and some light carridice saddle bag touring in summer. Choices choices I hear you cry!

^^ seller mentions that they will take it off if they get a good/right offer. so it might not last until the end of the week.
has anybody seen the cream one that was auctioned the other week,, right here? -

^^ I wish I had any money...
CoppiThat, that 'auction' was a bit of a palaver. You must have seen these, as have many others I'm sure, but
here are some other options for the 'master':

Well I was just looking around and saw that. To be honest I don't know the first thing about road/TT frames, but thought that someone might get a bargin.
I'm currently looking for a new road bike, probably a ribble as I don't really want to sink a bucket load of money on my first road bike, am I right in thinking this?Check this: Ribble clearance pricelist (PDF download)
