its very difficult one to balance because although you may not know him its hard to like him given that he is buying all this product (that we love) seemingly from everywhere and selling it outside of genuine enthusiast price range. if he was making/producing the product then i think it would be easy to accept. on the other hand it is business and the nature of good business as said already is; buy it from one place and sell it in another for more than you bought it for. the point of parting out vintage bikes again difficult because most high end vintage cycles would have been bought as frames and then components added, no?. over a few years with parts wearing out or better parts being available it would have evolved slightly. in a strange way the parting out of cycles puts more vintage cycles back on the road looking complete than it does keeping one off. i guess its that frustration we feel when we see something interesting listed and we resolutely think "what, he has another one?" or you leave a jumble and there is nothing there because everything good sold an hour before the doors opened to the general public. we just have to look where he looks :-)

Here you go Ed, you said you wanted to do a Peugeot. How about having the same as mine?!
It's at £5 with 3 days to and it's pretty close to pick up.
It would certainly keep you busy for a while fixing it up/converting it!
And another interesting one to go with it...
A bit further afield (Birmingham) and a bit more pricey (£40). Pick and choose!

bit new to all this, though wondered what anybody thought of this, as haven't heard the brand before - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coventry-Eagle-70s-Racing-Frame-and-Forks_W0QQitemZ290293086877QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Bikes_GL?hash=item290293086877&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318#ebayphotohosting
cheers, Iain
Coventry Eagle used to be at the heart of the British Cycle Manufacturing Industry in Coventry. They have a bike collection at the coventry transport museum.
That bike like most of theirs is not really a 'racey' one, they tend to be old man tourer, commuter type bikes.

Im in Bimringham, but that is one of the rubbish low end pugs. Not worth £40!
Ive mentioned it before about nice peuguots being both rare and undervalued because of the amount of crap bikes they made that look the same. But they do exist.

So ...how (allegedly)? Bungs the jumbles something to get first pick? Buys pretty much everything?

yes, yes, yes. i've heard him buying frames, when people have them in their hands, even though they were there first.

So which ones are the nice ones?Mine is Its 753. I have no idea about the model name. Could have been custom built for the 1990 IOM commonwealth games team.

why is he a cunt ?
isn't just trawling around the country buying all the frames he can from jumbles from people who cant be bothered to ebay the things themselves ?
Surely he's just doing good business not being a cunt. Please correct me if i'm wrong.not sure if i would go so far as to call him a cunt (not knowing him) but i would NEVER make a purchase from him again. bought a frame from him recently (my first ebayed frame) and the listing came off as all honesty (rusty bits photographed, etc), every detail well listed, but either that was a way for him to cover up for the other issues the frame had by appearing open, or he just doesn't know frames very well (hard to believe).
the frame's seatpost clamp is fucked, way overtightened so the tabs are mush and a post will not stay up (not photographed or mentioned) almost making it unuseable (only useable with an additional clamp over the top of the tube). in addition some of the brazeons had metal chemically welded into them (the gear cable braze-ons) so they needed drilling and filing for the cables to be run, again unmentioned or photographed.
the braze-ons i could see as an oversight. the seatpost tabs could not be missed.
in addition his communication is awful. after i had payed i asked him to notify me when he had shipped the frame, which he didn't even bother to respond to, let alone notify me of dispatch. and even though i had left him positive feedback (after i had received the frame but before proper inspection, my own fault) he has still not left me any feedback, almost a month after i had bought the frame. i've sent him at least two messages asking for feedback, to no avail.
if it wasn't for the fact that my wife has fallen in love with the frame and she isn't all that bothered about the unsightly additions i've had to make to it, he would definitely have been reported, goods returned.

So which ones are the nice ones?PX 10 variants are top notch.
PK 10 series is pretty fair too.
Have a butcher's here: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/France/bicycles/Peugeot/PX10_history.htm
The PY10 series was built to order, the CY10FC "Fibre de Carbon" was an early carbon frame with bonded lugs.
