  • Hi all, Just joined the forum, i am a freelance journalist band waggon jumping lazy cunt who hopes the internet will throw up an article I can sell. I am currently writing an article about the fixie phenomenon, because that cool with the kids, innit. Any useful resources, advice on who, where and what to look out for, stand out riders, affiliations, history, bikes, shops and any other good information would be much appreciated as then I don't have to do any work myself and will get paid for it. Sweet.

    Thanks

    Fixed.

  • lazy journalism. coming to a publication near you soon.

    WAC.

  • The kids call them "fixie skidders".

The "skid" part refers to the fact that they have no fucking brakes. MENTAL!

  • if you use the term "fixie skidders" you have to credit me as i invented the term.

  • BiggerBounce

this is the man who started it all - search for 'Teenslain' on here, he'll be more than happy to talk to you about 'back in the day'

also check out 'Mr Nice Guy' as he is on the absolute cutting edge of new frame development

there's a member on here called 'Wapping Warrior' who is seen to be a bit of a player on the scene

and I think 'Paul-Michel' would be good to contact, his breadth of knowledge is encyclopedic and is held in high regard by the whole community

  • if you use the term "fixie skidders" you have to credit me as i invented the term.

    My apologies Mr Smythe...

Can you please PM me that little superscript "TM" thing that people put on the end of things they make up like "Murderousdearthofbrakesfixiebike" and I'll update my post in accordance with the forums intellectual property policy.

  • it's free to use for those who know what it means.

alpha-hipster is also free but not common parlance yet (i only created it yesterday)

  • Just put it in your favourite image manipulation software to shrink it down.

Im not doing it myself... I'll just post in the welcome thread and ask you to do it for me.

  • it's free to abuse for those who know what it means.

    fixed

  • Is this where someone says that the first rule about the fixie phenomena is that you don't talk about the fixie phenomena and the second is that there is no fixie phenomena. What time is the bandwagon leaving ?

Apparently Purple Acky is the man to see - make sure that you wear lycra

  • that's not very welcoming - come on guys let's give BiggerBounce a fair go

    I've recommended he talks to

    Mr Nice Guy
    Paul-Michel
    Wapping Warrior

Who was doing the custom paint jobs a while back?

  • PM me for cheap legal advice... Completely confidential, discretion assured...

  • PM me for cheap dates... Completely confidential, discretion assured...

    fixied.

  • Who was doing the custom paint jobs a while back?

Yeah, BiggerBounce, get in touch with Dov, pretty much all the players on the brakless fixie skidder scene have passed through his workshop for custom jobs. Mad painting skillz, I think MOMA in New York will be exhibiting some of his experimental stuff soon.

  • who would he pm about the aerospok phenomenon?
    Prices, order times etc.

  • fiddy dorrah springs to mind

  • I'm surprised no-one's given him ASM's number? Oviously as long as he calls at 3am.

  • 'Dancing James' is the forum liason officer for any roadrage incidents, a much needed voice of calm and reason for the community

  • Any of the Harry's are good for information too...

  • Thanks for the feedback. I will look into the references and will contact people as suggested as i continue my research. All perspectives are useful, even the harsh one's, as hopefully this will lead to a good solid article and not, Quote - "a formulaic, generic, lazy, staid and cliched article", End quote, which lets face it, no one wants to read and i certainly don't want to write.

    Keep it coming and thanks

  • Scene?! what Scene! Count me out, what with my elbow

  • ^ Ignore him, he's Spanish

  • might have to wait for the Gansta # 1 Teenslain to come out of hiding since he tried to smoke that copper at Waterloo but we know people who know people..
