  • All our activities are accompanied by Ottakringer (biggest local brewery in Vienna)

How odd. Aren't they worried by the association with drunk cycling? They would be over here. Or do you mean just for stationary parties, not for rolling Buschenschänken? (Plural?)

  • Ah! Hippy! I heared about you. Pleased to meet you. Never been to Austria? We even organized a Long John to transform it into a rolling Buschenschank. Sturm and Bradlfettn! (Oliver Schick, try to translate this!)
What is a GSIAD? Cannot find it in the Urban Dic.

Uh oh... who's been telling you about me.. it's all true.

I've never been to Austria (other than driving through from Germany to Switzerland).
    Is it like Australia? ;)

Buschenschank = wine tavern, according to google. Nice! :)

Grand Slam In A Day = all the weeknight pubs around London done in a day. ie. East beers pub + South beers pub + West beers..

Last Man Standing 12h Race 2008

Apparently not. Such irresponsible dingbats. Ha! That's me. Hello!

You know the Austrian's most hated mug? I am impressed.

    I think I got it.
Are these pub-chains in London? Brewery-chains perhaps?

  • After somehow missing this thread and posting in the Nursery thread, I feel decidedly newbish. :/

-well as for an intro. after lurking for a few weeks I've decided to join, I currently live in Newcastle, planning on converting an old racing bike, and currently at college.

  • That's wicked! :)
I'm gonna have to get one of those when I visit Austr(al)ia properly. :)

  • Welcome "Boy Sebastian". Make yourself at home.

  • Hello everyone, been lurking on here for a few months now, always a little scary introducing myself to a new forum. I'm living and working in London at the moment as a junior designer. Recently finished my second build which I'll post up shortly!

  • I am exceptionally pleased about that as I get my english lessons form** Belle&Seb 12 inches**. I thought me sound as british as Twinings Gunpowder. Ha!

A cold-war spy. That reminds me of stories bout my grandfather, but If I would tell you about I .. blah.

You know Velocity Boy, the moderator, used to run their record label?

  • Left-hand drive...

Don't you dare! Don't take the bait!
It's equal to these obscene Diddl-mouse mugs of the 90s. I can't imagine you'll be happy with an exquisite draught of Peruvian highland selection on a sunny spring-sunday morning out of THIS.

Visit Vienna! And why not Bratislava afterwards!?

Welcome "Boy Sebastian". Make yourself at home.

    Ah! Thanks a lot.

Do not kid me about that. I am an anorak.
(Let's assume that it's true.. could he force them to autograph a t-shirt for me, if I would order one? Theoretical?)

    Left-hand drive...

Was absolutely indispensable. Hubschraufer, your "team"-mechanician didn't mind that the axle was an eccentric one and unfortunately assembled it wrong. So the crank arms permanently stripped material from the bottom bracket cups what I noticed just on the way to the race. Nobody carries along bottom bracket keys and face spanners but crank arm extractors.
So I couldn't avoid to be very hip for this race.

  • Do not kid me about that. I am an anorak.

Tsk, tsk. I doubt it, as you clearly didn't do a search when you joined the forum. We have high standards of anorakicitiness here. Read on from this post--there are a number of other places where it's discussed, too:

  • Hubschraufer

    "Hubschrauber" would make more sense?

  • Either this:
    [Hitler]

    or this:
    [Fritzl]

Ha! Just as Haider vanished into thin air.. Fritzl.

But I would be very interested in what comes in your mind when you think of Austria.
    Except those nightmares.

Apart from those two? The Third Man, Kurt Waldheim, Arnold Schwarzenegger, mountains and buxom wenches.
But mainly those two, to be honest...

  • Hello everybody, I am Ciro, brazilian and new to the fixies bikes .
What i can tell is since i got here in london i got amazed with that simple bike, without all that mass of cables around the frame i ve seen some people using (in Brazil fixed gears just dont exist) , and then i asked my good friend roberto much more into the bike scene than me what were those bikes . He explained to me everything and then I decided to be one fixed rider as well :)

I didint want to expend a lot of time looking for parts so i got one fuji 2008 a couple of months ago and ill go changing the parts whem my money allows me .

Hope to meet some of you guys for some rides, since riding bike is the best way for me to know this (crazy) city as well .

    Cheers :)

Ps: please dont make fun if my english is wrong ok ? :)
    hehe

  • welcome Ciro

    any friend of Roberto's etc…

Iiiiiiiiiek! Chrimbo is near! Mind the gifts!!

    "Hubschrauber" would make more sense?

He also comes from Styria and there we'd pronounce it like that.

    Must.... buy.... cheesy.... Austrian.... mug...

Hold on Skippy, as an Aussie you have to buy only your own country's souvenirs. It's the law. Here are some suggestions:

Or perhaps a nice Ken Done T-shirt? Cap-sleeved, naturally.

  • Apart from those two? The Third Man, Kurt Waldheim, Arnold Schwarzenegger, mountains and buxom wenches.

    Buxom wenches!? Haha!

The Third Man surprises me a bit. Like it.

    Must.... kill....
Woe betide you! Imagine my fellows fighting yours. Conan will tear the Crocodile hunter. And don't even think about a duel between Quigley and the Terminator.
(How melancholy that both are now govenor of California!)
