How do you stop cats repeatedly hopping onto kitchen tops? Electric fence? I'm really worried about ours knocking the bloody gas on or something while we are out.

I use a water spray bottle to stop the cat doing stuff like jumping on the worktops, scratching the furniture etc. Getting sprayed with water every time you are there will hopefully limit the instances that they do it when you are not.
Why would your cat accidentally turn the gas on? Has it done this before?

We've got an old hob. You only really need to knock one of the nobs. And she's a right clunky git.

Don't your cookers have a safety feature? With mine, if the gas is on but with no fame, after about 20 seconds or so it will just cut off. the plumber who connected it told me all cookers should have a safety feature similar.

I'll go check. If I die you can have my Pinarello.

Nope.

Boo about the bike, you got me all excited. Glad you are still alive... :-D
Just remember another trick, not tried it myself but Battersea told me that you could put some tin foil on the kitchen worktop, appreantly they hate it.

And, it will match his hat.

They've already got to you Melling. Don't listen to them man!
-
• #1696
Soon.
Possibly.
Will you call them Paula and Riccardo?
-
• #1697
^^water spray will only work while u are there. When ur not home the cats rule so only way is to either put something there to deter them eg foil or lemon juice etc.

in order to prove that my cookers are totally cat safe, or at least my cat thinks it is, she spends a large amount of time siting on it. She never used to sit on the old one that had a lid. Cats love weird places to hang out...

I am sure someone has already mentioned this cat island in Japan already, but these pics are so coooool...

So it is accepted as normal to have meow conversions with cats? Do you occassionally add other farmyard animals?
