  • How about some 35c semi-cyclocross tyres with excellent puncture resistance? I'm getting at least one a week with Schwalble sammy slicks...

  • Where are they being ridden? You sure it's not tyre pressure/rim width?

  • ta DH
Ive had about 10 in the last 3 weeks - need to replace the cheap tyres/tubes Ive had on since xmas.
Not sure about CS stuff - just had a look and theyre pretty expensive.
    Need near-slick for rolling-happiness.

  • Not sure if i've said but the rivendel jack browns (33.3333333333c) are also awesome and I couldn't fault them

  • had a few more punctures on 4seasons.
this morning I had enough, removed the rear one and fitted old durano. fuck cuntinental.

  • Ha, I had a tube blow out in Majorca after mechanic insisted on using the compressor after I said no no no I'll use the track pump... it was a fucking Conti. #caseclosed

  • HTFU. Cavendish was world champ on a punctured Continental.

Maybe, but if he'd listened to hippy, he'd never have got a puncture in the first place.

  • "Punctured Continental" says it all.

Which begs the question, what the fuck was it doing on your bike in the first place?

  • Does anyone have any experience with how 23c Re-fuse measure up compared to 23c Gators?

  • Where are they being ridden? You sure it's not tyre pressure/rim width?

London's shitty roads + the odd gravel/mud track. Keep the pressure up for road use but what effect does rim width have?

Not sure though I've been gifted a few tubes before.

If I flat on the way to work I tend to grab a Specialized tube as backup because that's what the shops here stock.

  • Keep the pressure up for road use but what effect does rim width have?

Narrow rim + low pressure = increased risk of pinch flat
Wide rim + low pressure = reduced risk of pinch flat

  • Larger tread in contact with the Erf

  • Narrow rim + low pressure = increased risk of pinch flat = going somewhere fast
Wide rim + low pressure = reduced risk of pinch flat = going nowhere

    ftfy

  • wuuuut

  • lol goonz pls. You haven't ridden a bike other than commuting since the summer.

  • Narrow rim + low pressure = increased risk of pinch flat
Wide rim + low pressure = reduced risk of pinch flat

Ah ok well the rims are 14mm, from what I can gather and the tyre is 35c and kept ~70psi (tyre specifies 80 max).

Look like someone like it slow.

  • Bought a cheap Claud butler* tyre from ebay for skidding through. 7 quid.
The damn thing is so stiff I nearly broke my tyre levers and fingers trying to get it on, managed eventually, pinched the tube, puncture, can't get the damn thing off to swap it.
    Learnt my lesson.

    *Probably some Taiwanese crap branded

  • The roads were so bad in Kent on Sunday that I was not surprised to have a puncture a few miles after Kidds Hill. I dismounted at a nice sunny bit of gras at the side of the road to change tubes. No puncture, must have been all the cake from the food stop. Four Seasons rule.

  • Just ordered a pair of rubino pro tech, fed up of sliding in the wet with the gators on, pbk doin em for £23. Here's hoping that they have decent puncture resistance.

  • Conti 4 seasons come in 28mm. I'd bet money on them not being though.

    Come in more like 26

  • Yes, that yre does not look like 28cm.
