  • Has this been resolved yet?

thats what they said on FB Monday. I figure with the bike show and launch of new bikes maybe the v4 pom announcement fell through the cracks.

  • Ordered my frame the other day, got an email today saying out of stock. Was totally bummed until I received this email:

"We do not have the exact same frame in any other colour however due to this been a planet x error we can offer the On-One Pompino V4 Frameset / X Large / Classic Blue at £199.99 however I will price match this to your original sale price of £139.9"

    AMAZING!

  • :o

  • I'm trying to convert a pompino front brake to a disc brake with the idea that my winter commuter has nice stopping power even in the wet. A few of you have done this before and I've been reading through this forum to get ideas. I'm new to this and have a few gaps in my knowledge that hopefully someone could help with?

This is the general idea. Replace front fork with Pompetamine fork (already ordered). Use Avid BB7 road disc brake (160mm). This wheel. Hopefully that all sounds pretty standard?

The handlebars are 'Deda Crono Nero bullhorn bars' (pictured below). I'm not sure which brake levers to buy though. Tektro RL520 look good but I'm not sure if they'll fit or be comfortable to pull if they do. I think I could keep the bar end brakes pictured but I've been warned that bar end brakes can snap brake cables. Has anyone any experience of this or any suggestions?

  • Isn't it a bad idea to mix brake types?

I'm sure someone will explain why...

  • I hope not, I'm going disc front, V rear on my Cross Check in the next few months.

  • I can't see why it's a bad idea, they might feel a little different but then front and back brakes usually do a little anyway due to the different cable lengths.

  • You wouldn't apply the same force on the rear as you would a front either way.

  • I would if I wanted to.

  • Huh...serious?

I had it in my head it was bad. A mate at work who's a very experienced cyclist and works in the industry seemed to think it was pretty bad because of the difference in feel and you might slam your brake and...

    Actually that makes no sense.

    Disc front brake eh...

  • It's fine, some bikes come that way anyway (admittedly they're usually shit) and a lot of MTBs come with larger rotors at the front for more power where you need it.

  • Deets are up. Sort of.

  • Disc front brake eh...

Seems to be getting more common for winter commuting bikes. thedopestghost built a very nice bike here. Perfect really except I find straight handle bars uncomfortable so going for the bullhorns. If I can figure out the levers.

  • ^^I like how 'classic blue' and 'matt raw' are now frame sizes.

  • is NOT the only geo tweak..

  • okay, that does look good in raw!

  • so do they have the raw in medium in stock or not? not very clear!
a geo chart would be great also! come on on one!

  • ^ wouldn't purchase one, or any frame for that matter, without a geometry chart.

  • especially considering they are stating the geo has changed.

I do prefer the look of this new one to the old one though.

  • They've not announced the new frame and I'd assume they are probably just updating the site while we poke around trying to find links/information. Hold your horses until it's finished and you get the newsletter telling you it's available or it appears in the list of frames properly (e.g. here: http://www.on-one.co.uk/c/q/frames/urban-bike-frames)

Looks like the link on PX was released early and incomplete

  • It's a shame, I'm prrsonally very happy with the v3 geometry. Love the frame.

  • ^^ fair point.

Sort the list and it magically appears.

Sadly the PX and On-One now seem to run the same shitty software; one of them was far clearer about sizing and colours last year.

  • The raw looks fresh!

  • Blue with black lettering looks ok too.
