  • so 2013 didn't happen for me sadly, bought a new house and planning a wedding but i'll be damned if i make that mistake again - who's up for it this year?

  • Me. Registration opens tonight at midnight I think.

  • I'll be going. Done the 135km the last two years, but taking the Mrs this time so it'll be the 75km for us.

Registration doesn't seem to be open yet.

  • Last year was great ... definitely going again this year!

  • First time this year..........hopefully!

  • done it twice, a fantastic weekend away, lovely people, countryside, food and above all beautiful bikes. Does anyone have a link ( that works) to this year's registration??

  • seems like the website is buggered. Anyone registered/know when it's open. will enter the lottery, but going whatever.

  • I don't think it's buggered, they've just updated the website at: http://en.eroica.it/

Seems that they've ditched last year's registration system via mySDAM so now everything goes through the website. Registration for the ballot for men under 60 starts on Feb 1 and ends on March 3.

Registration for men over 60 and women opens on March 15, but everyone in this category is guaranteed an entry regardless (I think).

Will make it interesting for me and the Mrs if she enters and I don't get in. I don't think it will be a massive problem though.

  • Interesting that there's an option to register as a group this year. Wondering how that's going to work: are they going to draw a separate ballot for groups and then another for individuals? Have to be honest and say I was tempted to register both to see if the system picks up the duplication.

Also, You can't register women riders in the group, which means if our group of blokes doesn't get in, the wife will be the only one entered.

    Iz crazee si?

  • Me and the Mrs are up for this again this year. Was jinxed last year, and in 2012, so hopefully this year we'll be OK.

  • ...and the results of the lottery are in...

Good luck everyone! Whichever way looking forward to seeing you all there in October.

I'm building up a hetchins at the moment and @tapsnbath has just got a rather nice delivery back from Argos.

Probably doing the 135k route this year but 205 is tempting.

  • yay, I'm in

check if you are, the registration number is in the subject line of your 'ballot' confirmation email

    http://en.eroica.it/eroica-ballott-results-2014

  • No such luck for me :(

  • hmm, i have no ballot confirmation email

  • Hah, my group got accepted! Planning on 135km route.

  • I'm in, see you all in Gaiole!

  • i'm in!

and p.s eurosport 2 - strada bianchi classic on now - they're currently riding up mont saint marie, that brings back memories!

  • Also in. Didn't get to go last year.

  • Do you have any info regarding bike check? Are participants supposed to send pictures or stuff is being tested regarding rules compliance at start line?

  • In. 4th in a row and will be going for the 135km this time round. Can't bloody wait. Gonna stretch it to a week this year, somehow...

  • Do you have any info regarding bike check? Are participants supposed to send pictures or stuff is being tested regarding rules compliance at start line?

just turn up with pretty much any bike from any era and any style but it must have down tube or bar end shifters, external cable routing on the handlebar brake levers and toestrap style pedals. these are the only essential bits. i've seen people ride 10 speed wheels and even modern ti frames but they passed the other rules so all good to go
they check your bike on the start line and won't stamp your card if the bike doesn't adhere to those rules

  • Got my group in - yay!

There really should be a LFGSS meet in Gaoile this year. Lets say Friday night in the bar opposite the Eroica bike shop.

    Forza!

  • Do you have any info regarding accomodation? I checked out offers on L'Eroica website but they're quite expensive. Where did you stayed? Outdoors tent, car, found something via couchsurfers?

  • First year: 80kms away.
    Second year: 25kms away
Last year: 1km from start line. Found a nice, cheapish villa just up the road from the main car park. Have requested it again, so crossing my fingers.

Alternatively, try Agriturismo, which has details of subsidised farms and wineries that offer accommodation. Our second year we stayed at one of these in Greve and it was ace.

  • ^ Providing I don't have another disaster this year, I hope to be buying you a Peroni in early October ;)
