Peugeot needs:
http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mBWFO_WttW0Qns02h6-FIwA.jpgBeen thinking more pale-blue, something like this:
or benotto is another option but could look a little out of place for the frame's age as was said up above:
I think either would be nicer than the cheap blue tape on the bars right now which doesnt really match the shade of the frame. I think either pale or dark would be better suited.
I always just wrap black or white normally so I've forgotten the rules on what the saddle colour ought to be with blue tape.. pale blue suede saddle too much? stick with black? white never says so for long..

Anybody feel like truing a couple of wheels for me? Yes yes, I've tried myself/made tea/tried to zen etc, but I'm angry and impatient and now they're all over the shop and I hate myself. Naturally, I'll pay you. I'm in Vauxhall if that helps.

Spare MTB bar end plugs, an old X-Lite stubby and a length of 22.2mm aluminium tube originally earmarked for some improved tri bar extensions on the RollerFort; all free-issued from the parts bin.
Ability to walk to places not served by hand rails; priceless.

Is the cane for you?

I'm having trouble fitting a seatpost. It goes in a little way, maybe around the minimum insertion mark, but then seems to get stuck. Any tips? It's a 27.2mm seatpost, might a 27mm post be the answer? Previous owner was pretty sure it was 27.2 though.

Yes. Next stage of project is to get a qualified mechanic to find out why I can't walk without it.

^^it looks like getting the seat tube reamed is the best option

Sounds like fun, but how is that going to reduce my hip pain? :-)

^At your age you might as well get a lift to the crematorium and just wait.....

Could take your mind off it for a few minutes?

I find a good reaming can take your mind off most things.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, we're not talking Lynchman levels of damage, most likely just a trapped nerve.

think mdcc's right: trying to trim weight from winter bike by changing stem & seat post etc probably a mug's game
just need to remove wheel decals (red clashes w/the pink) and add new pedals & mudguards to complete project winter bike

Best budget 700c/disc brake/11spd-wheels?
Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo bodies are both an option. Been eyeing Mavics new Crossone: http://www.mavic.com/wheels-mountainbike-crossone?tablet=1#.Ushhviy9KSM
Put on some Bontrager compacts, the disc wheel and go to a velodrome to have a blast.
