Can anyone reccomed a decent and cheap torque wrench?
-
• #86853
No.
You can have a decent one or a cheap one.

Decent ≠ cheap would be the default answer I'd imagine.
From what I've seen there seems to be one model that is sold for >£50 which everyone and there dog re-badges

What's the cheapest you'd reccomend buying?

Saw one advertised in CW £64.99 www.giant-bikes.com I have a Sykes Pikavant but it cost more than twice that. Problem is that making accurate torque wrenches for low values requires a lot more precision than for a typical automotive wrench. I don't think I'd go much below the type here.

I haven't actually used this, but Cyclo tools are usually decent for the budget conscious

Just spotted this on tumblr
So they have a cog drilled and screwed on where a disc should be, so supported by like 4 bolts. This has got to not be safe right?
Tester? -

much bolt
so screw
wOw!
-
• #86862
Oh yeah, like that. Making use for the disc rotor mount to make leftie. Looks strong enough to me.
-
• #86863
Is that leftie or upside down?
-
• #86864
Don't think its upside down.
-
• #86865
Good. Point, suppose it could be either..
-
• #86866
By Tester's law, bolt on is hella more solid than medieveal threads...
-
• #86867
But no good for any use for racing or anything like that I'm guessing. Someone who could put serious power through their drivetrain is surely going to shear 4 small bolts.

Quick question, how wrong is bar ends on riser bars for my xc bike? Not sure why there only seen on flat bars...

I believe Tester's argument was, think of the torque legs can put out, compared to the torque of a hydraulic disc brake...

seriously these things have been around for like 6 years? they are fine with good bolts.

Yeah I had thought about that

Quick saddle change and pedals on. Could do with a silver chain too I reckon
-
• #86873
I didn't notice that cog only had 4 bolts not 6. I'm sure someone has done some calcs.
-
• #86874
I think the chain suits.
