  • To be fair that one doesn't say it is on offer on the site.
So it's not all but quite a few :)

  • ah righty ho

  • Was just in the Waitrose underneath this shopping centre and saw the 20% deals. I'm not sure how genuine they are, though. They do tend to let those prices creep up and then slash them again.

  • There's also a competition to win a whisky tasting dinner for TEN people on the site. Get involved.

  • Interesting. This is on my commute so may head in there and check out what wine they have in the cough under £30 range

    there was certainly some

  • Don't know if anyone's bothered by cocktails in this thread but i just made a chocolate orange bourbon flip and it's amazing.

  • This is a great drop

We'll be cracking this one open this week sometime

  • ^the 12 is good. The 17 is amazing.

Definitely want to get my hands on the Bourbon Barrel Hakushu.

We need a SWC night soon. It's cold. Need whisky and cigars.

  • Groupon currently has a deal for a SWC tasting evening. "5 drams and taste pairings" for £29. Is that actually a deal? Groupon are not trustworthy re precise size of discount.

  • Answer me this please, whisky lovers: We've got half a bottle of black grouse that needs drunk before Xmas. What cocktails are good with whisky?

  • Old fashioneds for pretty much any occasion.
Whiskey Macs for cold winter days.

  • Whisky sour - with egg white.

  • Rob Roy. Basically, a Manhattan made with whisky rather than bourbon/rye

  • Cheers. I like the sound of an old fashioned and a rob Roy. I also found a bottle of cherry liqueur... Fuck knows what to do with that! I also have no idea who gave us that. Hopefully someone will drink it with coke...

  • Cherry and whisky is awesome

Hunters & Frankau Cigar evening paired with Sherry - Monday 16th December
Soho Whisky Club Christmas party - Thursday 19th December

There's a tasting on Tuesday 10th too, but I'm not sure I can make it.

  • I'm there on the 17th with a couple of work colleagues. Can't do the other nights but late next week could work.

  • Turns out I have to pick up a bottle from the Vintage House before Wednesday anyway, so I might do the Tuesday tasting after all.
    Fancy it?

  • Dad duty.

  • No worries. I shall make a flying visit

Updated - now there on the 18th not the 17th.

  • I've picked up some interesting stuff recently.
In the Waitrose sale I got some Woodford Reserve, which is the first bourbon I have ever had neat. Thought it was about time I tried.
Also picked up some Balvenie 14yo Carribean Cask. This is matured in rum casks rather than bourbon or sherry.
Then today I went to the Vintage House to pick up a special McGibbons 'Provenance' bottling of Benrinnes 1998 sherry cask malt for a gift. Not going to get to try that, but I couldn't resist picking something up for myself, and got a 2001 cask strength Caol Ila bottled by Gordon and Macphail. This is matured in refill sherry casks, and is 59.8%. What a lovely complex thing it is!

  • Love Woodford Reserve and the Golden Cask Balvenie is tasty. That Caol Ila is intriguing.

  • If you're going into bourbon at least you are doing in style. Let me know how the Balvenie is as I have that as one for my Christmas list from a brother
