If anyone is thinking of joining, let me know and I can give over my membership details for referral..

There's only 2 Japanese whiskies there.

I'm aware of that, but decided I should buy some anyway...
given the lack of quick response and itchy trigger finger I ordered
Benroamach Organic
Nikka from the Barrel
Bunnahabahn 18 yo
and still have money 'in the bank' -

^Springbank? Your knowledge seems much better than mine but Springbank is different to almost every other malt I've tried
-
• #1458
The saltiness, you mean? Glen Scotia's output has the same characteristic (it seems to be a Campbeltown thing) but also tastes of piss (really, one to avoid). Springbank is definitely worth sampling, though.

Yep I guess that's what distinguishes it. I am a bit of a fan of the Islay malts but when I was flush I tried it on the recommendation of a friend and liked it - but I have not had any for a few years

I'm yet to try a duff one from Springbank. Their Longrow range is very good too.

I would have suggested the Nikka of the two.

Heh, I didn't mention it because I've plugged it on here enough times. The 14yo is much better than the 10 (the 18yo even nicer but hard to find).

Caol ila is yum

Picked up a bottle of this tonight
Supposedly from Caol Ila, but not sure, haven't tried it yet.

I went to Hedonism wines last night, it's pure whisky porn in there... so much choice. Some crazy priced stuff as well. worth popping in if you happen to be passing by mayfair

Sipping a glass of the 18yo Longrow right now. Gorgeous stuff.

anyone tried the Port Charlotte, sounds lush?
-
• #1468
Not had that one but did have a PC8 that was like mesquite smoked bacon.

I tried this at the distillery tour. Don't really remember it though! It's quite steep for what it is though, but I suppose they don't produce a lot of it.
