  • I'll stop now.

  • Pearlescent white would look amazing.

Gonna try and get gumwall for the full effect?

  • For sure, I think to not would be sinful.

  • looks good

  • I've gathered a few parts, some of which I will swap but this will help get the bike rideable.

    • Gipiemme sprint hub / Mavic GL 330
    • Shimano 600 1" headset
    • Shimano 600 tricolour calipers (will change for Sram Rival)
    • Profile Airwings
    • Deda Parabolica Zero Tribars
    • Benotto Tape (pos change to black)
    • Sram Rival chainset
    • Sram Red 10 speed chain
    • Sram Rival rear derailleur
    • Selle Italia Flite Ti Saddle
    • Selle Italia Flite carbon seatpost
    • Seat clamp bolt

  • what size chainring?

  • I'm surprised you didn't asked to change the steerer for a longer one to have a threadless set-up.

  • I did ask about about upgrading the headtube to 1 1\8" but obviously that would cost quite a bit more. I have to admit I didn't think of extending the 1" steerer but it's already quite a bit more than I initially thought. Although the frame will be ready to collect on Wednesday.

The hardest part of the project so far was protecting the fresh paint on the tube at rush hour on a match day, but we made it back okay.
First impressions of the finish are good. I also picked up a NOS FIR ST401 rim laced to a Novatec hub so I can run 10 speed, from NorthLondonLight.
    Things still to source:

    / TT brake levers
    / Sram TT shifter
    / Sram BB
    / Quill stem
    / Gumwall tubs
    / Look keos

  • Have you figure out a stem length? 26mm clamp diameter?

  • Other than short, not really. 70 - 90cm as you would with any bullhorns I guess. I'm not going to pretend that it will be spot on straight away, but starting short seems sensible. The Profile Airwings are 26.0, but personally I wouldn't have any gripes using a 26.4 also.

  • Will check my part bin for something around that length, might have a heavy 80mm one lying around.

  • Cheers. I've decided it has to be Cinelli or Shimano because I'm a tart like that. I imagine black stem with silver Cinelli bars that I'll eventually source will look pro, so silver or black I'm easy.

  • looking forward to seeing this built up, really interesting. maybe it's just the photos but the new paint looks a bit thicker making the gussets look more graceful.

  • Thanks, it certainly deserves some better photos but am putting that off until it's all built up at least. Due to the repairs on the chainstay, the painters did apply slightly more primer than normal in that area, but I'm impressed with the finish.

  • I think you should use one of these

  • Couldn't agree more, with silver bars that would look slick.
Essentially the bike will be white with black components, but black quill and black bars don't really go in my mind, but will fit one anyway until I possibly can get some silver bars.
I think black stem with silver bars or silver stem with black bars is the way forward.

  • Looking forward to how this turns out. Gumwalls should give it just enough colour not to look boring.

  • How dare you?!

  • Needs flashy coloured bar tape

  • I think a Shimano AX stem would like nice with this build. If I am not mistaken they did those in 26.0. Would be a lot easier compared to the Cinelli hidden bolt stem. Looks better too.

  • DA 26,4 but 26mm bars can do the job.

  • Needs flashy coloured bar tape

I read that as fleshy coloured bar tape.

  • Needs flashy coloured bar tape

Never, bar tape should only ever be black or white. Although thinking about it, pink Benotto tape might look alright.

I've had both Shimano quill and Cinelli 1R and if one is more fidly it's the Shimano. With the Sram group Shimano might be fractionally more in keeping, but think both would be spot on.

I like the sound of that, got one for sells?

  • Browsing Hilary Stone, this Polchlopek reminded me of yours:

    Also, I have a 90mm/26.0mm 600 AX stem if I don't use it, I'll let you know.
