Too much of a bargain that Amey, thanks.
Might consider a hardshell too, 1 jacket for those days where it just rains or is super cold and snowing. Hmm

You can get thin down jackets with a waterproof membrane from Patagonia, or thicker more waterproof softshells with a waterproof outer membrane (these arent technically softshells though). Check mountaineering/hiking/climbing clothing sites. If you get something climbing specific theres a good chance it will fit on the bike.

I love my gore path jacket but fit wise I much prefer Gore Oxygen which is pricey (almost as pricey as rapha) so once I wreck the path jacket I am going oxygen. Path jacket lasts long though; i've been using it regularly for last 2 years had a pretty serious crash on it; still going strong.

Yeah, can't fault gores construction. Last 10 or more years I think.
SF I've got some stuff like that, but maybe not the good stuff. I'll have a deeper look and see if it fits on the bike. As the stuff I have is great for a pottle to town, but not fitting enough for more.

Decent price on these, although it does say new with defects and is a bit ambiguous on the defects it might come with.
-
• #14534
Fake? Perhaps thats a defect. Not buying Rapha from Turkey.

• #14535
I have never seen Rapha jackets that are fake. It would be quite hard to fake the jackets in my opinion and not really worth the effort. If it was that easy wouldn't we be seeing ebay flooded with them?

Looks similar to a yellow Pro Team Jacket I bought in a sample sale. It had a slight orange/rust colour above the pockets, which I seem to spot in the pics. Not sure if this is what they mean in terms of defects. A lot of Rapha is or was made in Turkey so could explain why there's some new old stock originating from there.

**Question for Rapha Classic Soft Shell Jacket & Pro Team Jacket owners
*I have owned a Classic Soft Shell for now my second season. It's a great jacket to wear throughout winter. I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada where our winters are generally around 4 down to -4* celsius.
I'm considering selling my soft shell for a Pro Team Jacket.
Reason why im considering this is that I've gone down in weight, 160lb to 145lb in 1 years time. The Softshell fits me fine, but when I ride at a higher tempo i find it too hot and heavy at times. I've also come to embrace aerofit.
Other rapha pieces i own are merino longsleeve base layer, brevet long sleeve jersey, pro team race cape.
Do you guys think that I would be able to layer my way through winter using a Pro Team Jacket + base layer + brevet jersey + race cape?
Or, dont' bother and just keep my softshell?

Not sure you'll be able to wear the PTJ over a Brevet.
Yesterday it was 2 degrees celsius and I wore a craft extreme base layer under a PTJ, I did a tempo ride for and hour and a half and it was fine.If you are going to plod or ride at a lower intensity then keep the softshell.

don't rapha do some weight loss exchange scheme?
edit: http://www.rapha.cc/jersey-downsize-offer?locale=UK (maybe it only applies to jerseys?)

^^^ Depends upon sizing, but the PTJ is quite stretchy (I can fit a down gilet under mine, without it being flappy normally).
Personally, and having ridden it in two downpours already, I am totally sold on the idea that you keep warm and let the moisture breath back out, as opposed to staying 'dry' but sweating and then getting chilled properly. Not sure how good it would be in the stop-start of commuting though, especially at -4! It is lovely though, I almost wish I'd bought a black one so I could wear it as a normal jacket!

Very high at the front though- just like the winter jersey, if you are on the bike it's fine but off the bike it bares your midriff

A hedge fund portfolio?

Apparently it's a total spend of over £3000 equivalent. This is what the people in the Raphael Cafe San Francisco told me. They also said that was a lot of money for a black and gold cap.

When you buy something they check to see how much you've taken the piss out of the brand on this thread and make the decision based solely on that.
basically we're all fucked.

Surely with the current PTJ love-in we've earned a bit of credit back .... ?
^ I've bought from that seller in the past (gore path jacket); its genuine.
