  • Pista CS are nice - the evo CS are nicer but considerably pricier!

  • Indoor. UCI velodrome in Aigle, natch. With possibly an occasional trip over to the equally indoor Velodrome Suisse up in Grenchen.

At the moment, since I'm going through a Vittoria fanboi phase, I'm eyeing up a pair of Pista CSes as potential candidates.

I'd grab for the Continental Sonderklasse 165s--- for "training" probably some Tempos. The Sonderklasse tyres are fast and hold up well. The EVO CSs are good tyres at a wonderful price point but are hardly robust. I keep mine for "special days" (but not the "really special" days).

  • I've got CS's on both my sets of track wheels - ridden them at Herne hill in every type of weather this year and they are still in good nick. 1 puncture from flint on the track when there were works going on in the centre of the track.

  • Pista CS it is. The Evo CS have tan sidewalls, which I didn't think would go with the deep carbon rims. #biketart

  • That was my original position but I am coming round to the tan sidewall/deep crabon point of view.

  • Well, the fact I got a pair of Pista CSs from Ribble for 46 quid delivered helped my decision in that regard too.

  • Just waiting for my Veloflex Paris-Roubaix to turn up from Ribble.

  • That reminds me I need to stretch my spare Conti Sprinter...

Can I be bothered is the question. It's an hour long gym workout just by itself.

  • how long is the valve on Pista CS? (not a euph)

  • c. 40mm IIRC, with a removable valve core. I'm in Mallorca ATM, but I'll be back on Saturday evening if you need a Real Life measurement.

  • Blood metal staple, a p_nctr on way to work. At least the spare is stretched thanks to the mega underarm strength of Le Manfriend.

In the conti's defence, that road is so littered car tires often p_nctr too I've a slow one in my front right car tire that needs sorted.

Do they clean the road all the time due to steel lorries? Do they fk.

  • Ha... I remember that.

  • Things older than me :)

  • gotta love tubs

    Hero!

I didn't dare do that...the road to work is woeful and riddled with potholes, didn't want to risk busting my rim :(

  • that video is so good - great example of htfu

  • that tyre was on the good shit

  • ?

I've ridden flat tubulars on a number of occassions--- even a few times front flats (absolutely NO fun). Alu rims hold up quite well. The main casualty is the tyre.

  • It's a GP4, so in theory ok. But hredded tire. Also bad...

Going home tomorrow in the car, got a new tub, then open old one and lovingly sow back up. Showed colleague all about Ciocc, his Crabon Audi with Athena 11 is the same weight as the Ciocc.

    Yeah... :)

  • 25mm tubs for road use - suggestions?
