Individual player's rankings will be counted only if s/he ranks all 15 teams.
Can I skip the ranking as I don't know who a lot of people are so I don't feel capable of doing this fairly.
I guess I could just follow what my team mates say but since hearing what Louis originally wanted to name our team I don't know if I trust his judgement ;) -

Yes, of course you can skip the rankings, although it will be better the more people that vote.

**Vote for rankings -- Attention all league players -- Deadline Friday 1 Nov midnight
**Registered league members rank the teams in order from best (=1) to least good (=14). The rankings will be summed to produce the seeding -- the team with the lowest number is first, etc.
Players do not rank their own teams. There are 15 teams, so each player ranks the other 14 teams from first to last.
Individual player's rankings will be counted only if s/he ranks all 14 teams.
The league managers reserve the right to disqualify a player's rankings from consideration if they deem that the player has submitted a ranking that appears to be gaming -- e.g. has sabotaged a team or artificially inflated a team.
The league managers intend to have the entire seeding determined by popular opinion but reserve the right to the the final decision on the seeding and the final split between league divisions (e.g. 8 and 8 versus 9 and 7).
I have set up a question on Survey Monkey, which is ready to go, except for we have to wait to deal with Defcon's eligibility.
We have decided to change the format so that players do not vote for their own team. We think this makes the ranking more accurate and less open to gaming. Apologies for changing it. This is all experimental.

1) Can anyone play the prediction game?
2) On the very remote chance that (i) I might get my shit together enough to come down to London for a day or two's polo, and (ii) a team needed a sub, and (iii) they were desparate enough to take me as a sub... would I be eligible (on the grounds of having played regularly in London for a significant period of time)? -

@Landslide - You are eligible to sub. The sub rules are a bit more relaxed than the team member rules.

The Survey for ranking teams is live. You cannot vote for your own team. In order to facilitate this, please rank your own team as 15. Then rank the others from best (=1) to least good (=14). There are no ties so toss a coin if you need to. Thanks.

Done. That's fun. Still don't know everyone.

Talking of gaming, if you are counting team votes as 15 points and no votes as 0 then teams that don't vote will be artificially higher than teams that vote...
On the other hand if the team voting gets a 0 it will give them a better position, so encouraging voting.

Defcom 69 are out!?!
That's aweful, especially since an 8/8 split would be perfect for you guys. And especially since they got their shit together to actually form a team. I would have loved to play the league this year. I probably can't play until mid november, but what if Chan, Fin and I signed up and Trigs subbed on a perma basis until then? Is there a maximum amount of games that a sub can play for one team? If these guys have committed to playing the league this year that means that they've read and understood the requirements that are being made of them. It seems a real shame for London, such a WelcominG community, to become so exclusive towards smaller scenes with potentially less strong players.
It's a bummer...

Just a heads up about SurveyMonkey...
If you open the link and click on a team once, it will auto-populate the numbers. You can then drag and drop the teams into order as well as just selecting numbers from the drop down list...
Makes life a lot easier.

Obvs.

Ok then in that case those who don't vote will (relatively speaking) be pushing their team further down the ranking (because they won't be adding points to every other team)... This should be incentive enough to vote, especially for the mid table teams.

voting should be mandatory

Even for people who don't recognise 80% of the names?
What sanctions would you suggest?
I might do a bit of team description if people think that's a good idea?
Yes.
