After much faffing around i've settled on this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAVERT-MICRO-ADJUSTABLE-MTB-ALLOY-SEATPOST-BICYCLE-BIKE-CYCLE-SADDLE-SEAT-POST-/130902116482?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item1e7a5fc882
I'm sure at some point in the future i'll swap it out/upgrade it.
I'm going to hold fire on the stem and bars for the moment, and use the ones that are on my bike to figure out which stem length would be best. -

Pedal advice needed. I've been trawling through many a forum on the topic of which TIME pedals to get and nothing seems to be helpful. Which MTB Time pedals do i get? Do i get rocs or not? Any help would be much appreciated
-
• #134
The xc6 (xs) would be my choice, they are worth the extra if you can afford them for the adjustable spring tension. If not the xc2 (roc) will be fine. Also the xc4 (roc s) aren't really worth it over the xc2 as they offer nothing more than a very small weight saving. I hope this helps.
-
• #135
That did help thanks, I wasn't really expecting the xc6 to be advised. I've heard that TIME pedals have a lot of float, which isn't really what i'm looking for.
I've been looking at the Time Atac XS Carbon Pedals, or the Shimano XTR pedals -
• #136
I have the XC2 Roc pedals and I'm getting on really well with them.
-
• #137
Why don't you just go for some XT pedals? New ones look almost just like XTR But thet are nicely priced.
-
• #138
It seems everyone rides Time ATAC pedals when riding fixed gear brakeless. So, contradicting what i said earlier, i might just get a pair of Time's. Is it worth spending the money on a pair that are a bit lighter? Something with tension adjustment is definitely a must.
-
• #139
no tension adjustment needed on times, just get the basic ones all the others have got square locking bars which are crap
-
• #140
What spotter said.
-
• #141
Apologies for all these questions, but what are the basic ones?
-
• #142
Alium are the bottom of the atac range.

Kind people of LFGSS I call upon your advice once more. The OP has been updated regarding the parts list, and I pretty much have everything now (minus the chain and a few other bits, bars and stem haven't been bought as i don't know which length stem to get yet), it just needs building. However, I'm thinking about selling all of it, everything i have which is on the parts list. Can anyone give me a rough idea as to what would be the price i could expect for it? Is it better to split or sell complete? Or to sell here or ebay/gumtree? Advice would, as always, be much appreciated.
I'll take some individual pictures of the parts soon. -
• #144
That frame is well puke. That's what the kids say innit?
-
• #145
Split would probably get you the most money back on here, avoid eBay if you can, although you may well get more money there for the more expensive parts like the frame.
Why sell though? It's so nearly there and will be a really nice bike once built, is there not a different way to get some money if that's what you need, I'm sure you would come to regret selling it.
-
• #146
Well, you see some NJS bikes going on ebay for pretty high prices. I'm aware that i won't be able to get back exactly what i paid in total, but i'm not going to sell it at a huge loss. And I'm sure it will be, but at the moment I'd prefer the money.
-
• #147
I can't imagine you will lose much on the frame, you may on the parts, especially if you bought them new. As long as you're not after really high prices you could put it all up in the classifieds on here first, and I'm sure people who know much more about the value than me will tell you if they're priced too high. I'd still say keep the frame if you can and sell the parts, it really is lovely.
You could also try the what is my xyz worth thread, although it looks like more questions than answers after a quick look.

• #148
Does around 10/15% off what i payed total sound reasonable? Or am i aiming too high?
-
• #149
It depends really, whenever I've built something up its always been a bit of a rush, so I've paid over the true value to ensure I win (on ebay) and get it fast. If you've been patient and picked things up for good prices you could get nearly all your money back (minus any postage or ebay/paypal fees), but for anything you've bought new you are probably looking at -20% at best. -15% as an average sounds pretty reasonable to me, but again it all depends on what you paid in the first place.
-
• #150
I'll put them up for around 20% first, then adjust accordingly. I'll also sell it here if i do sell. Thank you for the advice.
