Mavic Cosmics - convert to track? Front is skewered now, would it be easy to convert to a solid track axle? Rear isn't an issue is it?
-
• #83881
You would not need a solid track axle on a front wheel
-
• #83882
is that not a requirement?
-
• #83883
are tapped qr axles allowed?
-
• #83884
do I even track?
-
• #83885
Yes, the issue lies within the Qr handle coming undone in a crash and then impaling ensues. In theory
-
• #83886
Does the rear have bladed spokes like the front on the old Cosmic Pro from circa 1997?
Answer: Yes, but not straight pull.

Kind of got bored of grey so I unbuilt and destickered the Brodici...
Just gonna ride it like this for now, 52x19, and make a decision on the paint in the future, or just leave it. thoughts?
stay paint no longer lines up with the rim now I changed ratio though #firstworldproblems
but the clearances are tighter #firstworldsolutions -

Mavic Cosmics - convert to track?
Cosmic Carbone or Cosmic Elite? For Elite, just sell them and buy Ellipse, they are basically the same rims. For Cosmic Carbone, an Allen key skewer or tapping the axle and fitting bolts will do up front, but the rear is probably not worth the effort; you'd have trouble finding a track hub to line up with the lacing pattern, which needs to be fairly accurately replicated as the spokes pass through the carbon fairing to the aluminium rim, and converting the FTS-L freehub to fixed is just about feasible but more expensive than just buying a proper track wheel.

Loving the new stem...
Unfortunately pinup is too short for my Integralters (they are 110mm the alter is 100...) so she can stay on the alter.

Gaston is a wealthy man with the necessary resources to indulge a seemingly relentless appetite for building bicycles. Or he's ruined himself.
Either way the lesson is clear: do not attempt to emulate this man.
