Looks good in its new guise anyway. Are you going to get new decals? The only thing about the whole build that doesn't seem quite right is the saddle/seatpost combo, looks like it's a bit oddly placed for some reason, like it's perched quite far forwards. Have you tried with an inline?
I was going to get new decals but decided not to in order to keep it looking discreet, as a daily ride....that's clearly gone out the window now. Yeah it's pushed right forward. I was going to get an inline but thanks to it being an obsessive build of British and Japanese parts only it'll have to stay the way it is. Besides, I've already spent far too much time and money on it

It's 5.2kg and you're complaining about steel strap being too heavy and decided not to ride with foot retention to keep the weight down.

there's lighter chains out there too...
and is that a topcap I see?
-
• #83657
Slack chain...
-
• #83658
And lighter wheelset too, too many spokes unless you're a porkies.
-
• #83659
5.2kg is crazy-light but how are you going to maintain chain tension?
-
• #83660
And you'd go faster if you put a heavier device that somehow enable you to reduced speed dramatically.

• #83661
porkes?

Names.

the wheelset is really light 1,4 kg i haven't found a lighter one yet. chain is slack. Still under work :) i am waiting for a carbon seatpost and lighter chain. i cant choose grips as they are ugly or heavy. might go for bartape.
Rides awesome

Not at 32/28 they're not, they can easily be lighter says, 20/16, or 24/20.
And I'm calling bullshit on the 5.2kg weight claim, pic or it didn't happen.

So no foot retention, no brake(s) and no grip, yet it still ride awesome at 4mph?

i picked up a cheapy wheelset to do away with my rear spok & the road front wheel for a bit, changed my bars to risers because it looked like it might rain and the result is..
hello 2007!

Not necessarily; very light rims and low spoke counts don't play well together, so some of the lightest wheels actually have quite high spoke counts.

Unlikely, but 5.2 isn't so hard to hit if you leave off half the necessary parts :-)

Wish they would make some all-weather bars.

Can save some serious weight on the bar bolts using those new silicone tidds. And that seatpost looks like its half the bikes weight!
EDIT: I just wonder what you're gonna use this bike for. I mean before you get under a car.

Nice to see Donohues getting forum props. I know F-Tiles has one and loves it. I had three in succession yonks ago - the pink 631 died in a crash and then went through two 853 numbers trying to replace it - both of which were patently too small. Lovely bikes.
Lovely builds too!
tommmmmmm has been working on his for a while too, he's had a few teething problems but think he has got there just about...
