  • How much to powder coat a Columbus air seat post in black?

better to go out and buy a black seatpost

    He did say, columbus air...

  • Reckon you could remove a stuck seat post and do a powdercoat?

  • Hi,

have you used any techniques already to remove the seatpost?

    James

  • Just bathed it in gt85, it's fairly stuck in there...

  • I could remove it, however there would be no flat rate just labour. They can sometimes take days to remove.

    James

  • try coke first... then ask shinkuu kiss... a mix of caustic and water did the trick

  • Charlie or the canned stuff? both might give you enough 'get up and go' to tear out a stuck post.

  • Stickers back in stock ladies and gentlemen. PM me your address and preferred colour (black/pink/white) and I can get them out today free of all charges

    James

  • Looking to put together a catalogue of powder-coat examples so I need:

    1x raw lacquered frame
    1x RAL 9023 - pearl dark grey
    1x RAL 4003 - bright pink

I need these colours all at once, so doing a price of £46 which includes me posting it back to you.

  • Little update with the No Quarter paintwork bike...

I wanted this bike to really show off some of the techniques we can do; fade paintwork, high-gloss lacquer, gold leaf and finally the all important, glitter.

This type of metal-flake is called spin-drift, the hardest type of flake to spray because it has the run consistency of play dough when it comes out the gun. It's only intensive when under bright sunlight, it does not look like the following photograph all the time.

I've tried to photograph the detail but it doesn't look as cool as real life sadly..

Gold leaf is now done, we're gonna be building this up soon and it's going on quite a few of the big cycle blogs, keep your eyes peeled!

  • whoa! 'luxe

  • That looks stunning.

  • That's awesome, I wish I had someone do a good job as you do in my vicinity (Germany)... It frustrates me nobody is doing it right over here

  • Looking good!

  • Thanks guys! Currently editing pics of the metal flake...

  • Do you also do anything bit more adventurous? Hows your masking/airbrush skills?

  • I don't have any pictures from my portfolio but the actual paint-work side is done by my Father. He's done dragsters, hot rods, super cars, you name it so his work is really good.

Could we do a Colnago art decor paintjob? Yes.

  • ^interested to see any of the hot rod paint jobs he's done. They're normally pretty intense...

  • Gold leaf on..

Also placed graphics on the down-tube which will be done soon. At present the frame has had some of the lacquer taken back so it's matte, but once the lacquer is on the sparkles in the paint, the metal-flake and the gloss will all work together to give you a seizure.

We're going to be using a new durable lacquer which I can't wait to see the results. To give a realistic view of the paint-work, I'm contemplating giving this frame to a courier for 365 days and see how hard they can hammer a bike in a year..

Alternatively I would like to keep on building this up, then stripping it again and going for a different paint-job just to give some variety.

    also uploaded a few more pics on the Facebook page;

  • If you want something to experiment with a rad paintjob on, I could sacrifice my donohue...

  • Cheers TM but I'd need to keep the frame after the 365 days was over!

  • She's lacquered, she's built up...

  • Do you spray carbon frames? If so, what sort of price for a frame and fork?

  • Yes I can spray carbon frames no problem, dependant on what level of colours and detail depends on the price, but a single colour would be £110

Feel free to PM me or email me at james@noquarterbikes.co.uk
