  • This is my second CAAD4, love the frame so much after I sold my first CAAD4 I brought another one because they are probably the best bikes within my budget.

I'm going to keep this one (this time) and slowly slowly build her up.

  • That's nice - a proper dale paint job but fairly subtle too. Defiantly a keeper.

  • It's a matte coat which is lovely, although I nicked it for the first time last week, I was super pissed off, the paint comes off like a scratch card!

  • does anyone know what the r signifies on the cannondale model numbers ? are the frames basically the same and the r300 / r2000 signify different spec levels ?

r300 being 105 or the like and r2000 being da or

  • yes
And the R simply means road as they name mountainbikes M etc

  • R is just 'Road'. The higher the number the better specified the components. Broadly speaking the frames would be the same across the series, although the higher end might have integrated headsets or BB30 if the CAAD model supported those at the time.

  • Anyone have any experience of the 2014 caadx bikes? 105 in particular? almost certainly gonna pull the trigger on one. Cheers.

    Is that you Tom?

I'm going to get the Ultegra one when it arrives - good bikes at a decent price

Very good, 10.6kg on the weight too.

  • yes morgan, its your boy tom. Are you getting this to replace the supsersix exo as an allround bike? thats my plan. Probs will get a set of lighter summer road wheels some time next year and i think itl be a great bike.

  • We got the new Synapse 105 Disc in the shop, going to build it up and see how it ride, be interesting to compare it to the CAADX.

  • Ali or crabon?

  • Liking the dales, don't have one but need a new road bike.
    Is this good value?

  • Ali or crabon?

The former sadly, it won't be in carbon which is annoying as it look promising on the hi-mod, especially the rear mount.

  • ^^ Ooohh thanks

That's steep, and I'd say the CAAD5 is a later model then 2002, my CAAD4 is 2004. Should be under the £400 mark with that spec really.

This link has all you need to know about models pre-2008.

  • Pics or it didn't happen. dicki you've had that frame as long as I can remember seeing your avatar right?

  • white cannondale is a track, had that 1 year before the forum started , blue cannondale is a road bike bought that back in 2002 or so
just having the gears set up by local bike shop and should be ready to collect this evening
they are having issues though, rear drops are everso slightly out and it's causing problems on the up and down shifts, it really is a fraction of a mm out but the 10 speed isn't liking it
    doh !
    trial run this evening though
