Sounds like another great project.
Disc front could be interesting if you can find a nice fork, what's the rake/a2c on the Enve cross fork? Would they custom build one? or a custom Woundup track with disc mounts?
Level top tube?
I'm guessing you're talking steel, MAX/Life mix? MAX down tube are very thin walled, Reynold's 853 oversized/aero ish tubes are similar profile, but smaller and thicker walled, maybe a better prospect for a street fixed? 853 front end and MAX rear end would look amazing.

no, columbus aero aluminium tubes.
what do you mean with level top tube?enve cross fork: 47mm rake
enve cross disc fork: 47mm rake
enve road disc fork: 43mm rakeorlowski is only building custom forks made out of steel.
i also do not like the woundup forks, however they are starting with 40mm rake. -

Woundup disc... And inquire if they can build the track fork but with the disc mount?
Might not go well with the alu tubes though.
level top tube, as in horizontal? Or by "banked" did you mean sloping up/semi compact geo?
thought you would've been going steel, am sure alu will be great though.

no sloping top tube this time!!!

Color:
- some kind of a shiny yellow
- insides of the fork and the rear stays shall be black
This would look awesome with a murdered-out HHSB build:
50mm crabon rimz
black omnomnoms
black thomson seatpost and stem. - some kind of a shiny yellow

will take all parts of the dolan first, so black omniums and black thomson parts are already here. will run the ellipse-set at first, will see how it looks like.
it seems that there is no carbon disc fork with less than 40mm rake.
not sure if i could go for (mini)v-brake instead or just normal road brakes. -

If you're getting a custom frame, couldn't you just make the headtube steeper to make up for the fork rake being >40mm?
-
• #9
i would love to have one line. but with a fork rake like 40 or more the angle would end below 74 (from my point of view)!?

Is axle to crown not more important in this case than rake?

just my (their) 2p.. http://chrisking.com/files/pdfs/Int20HeadsetsExplained.pdf

i like the simplicity of installing an fully integrated headset and this is also not a weightweenie project.
will see how the disc fork (tapered) with 40mm looks like, otherwise i will run normal road brakes. but i really want that beefy front.
-

i can see why you want integrated as it definitely looks better.. but disk brake forces may accelerate the process shown in the pdf

year of document is 2002, iirc ck was not making internal headsets at that time which explains a lot

^ that in spades.
Also do you have fully integrated headsets that much anymore? I thought most were semi-integrated, a bit like:
Also +1 to choosing the fork that fits and then having the geometry adjusted to give you the rake / axle to crown / etc. you want. An Enve disc road fork would probably be the ideal so you don't end up with CX clearance when they're not needed.

i do not know which headsets all the new otp bikes have, but i like the simplicity of the drop in headsets.
the enve fork has 43mm rake, quantec has 40mm and is also less expensive. i think 40 should be fine without too much cx clearance to the down tube.
will see how the bike cad looks like with all my idea of requirements. -

Axle to crown of the fork will contribute to CX clearances as well as rake...
-
• #18
you are right, now i get it.
the enve road disc has 367mm, but couldn't find any info about the quantec.

ah come on, no need for a disc brake on such a build..
- If you decide to take it on the track sometime, you'll have much more hassle removing the brake. Not to mention the new front wheel you'll have to get built aswell..

I think the quantec is about 395mm. don't get that!

With a slightly steeper headtube/chunkier downtube Enve should give pretty nice clearances no?
After riding fixed bikes since 2008 I owned a lot of great bikes. But over all those years I realized how much my perfect bike should look like and how the geometry should be as it isn't that easy to find a frame that fits me, not only regarding my size (6.3), also regarding how I want to sit on a bike.
A few weeks ago I got a slipped disc and now I have to strength my muscles in the back but also should look like for a bike with less bank like I currently have on the Dolan Seta.
So it was just a question of time when I would start thinking about another "No more compromises" custom made frame. I already tried it in March this year but due to some unexpected car repairing expenditures I had to postpone my idea.
As the summer is nearly over and we are close to the winter season I think that it is the best time to plan and order the custom frame.
So I contacted Jacek Orlowski on 3rd September as I'm really happy with his work and my other custom Orlowski SSCX Commuter. He is a really nice and friendly guy who knows a lot about bikes. Sadly he is didn't replied to any of my emails (i think he will be on vacation after the eurobike), so I decided to contact Pelizzoli in parallel as their frame and geometry is quite nice too and the geometry is similar to the old Cannondale Tracks from the early 90ies. I had a 63cm Track back in the days and the geometry was quite perfect.
Ideas so far for the Orlowski build:
Uncertainty:
I'm not sure which kind of brake I will mount.
My first idea was a normal brake but meanwhile I'm thinking about a CX fork with canti mounts or even a disc fork. Are there any straight canti/disc forks on the market with less than 40mm rake? Found only the Quantec Carbon Cross fork for discs with 40mm rake.
EDIT - 19th September:
Today I decided to order the Pelizzoli Leggenda as Marco was always replying really fast, he also offered me a little free thing, he searched really hard for a track fork with disc mounts and the geometry of the legganda was quite close to my custom wishes.
I will order a normal track fork now but will have an eye on the road disc fork market within the next months/years.
The bumblebee is coming.
