Got bought a CAMRA membership for birthday. Go on their website. First thing you want, is a locator on their website to show you the nearest pubs near you that they approve of. Do they have that? Do they fuck. Closest thing is this:
WARNING: 90s HTML might hurt your eyes
http://www.pigsear.org.uk/newguide.htmlGet with it beardies. I'm going to start CAMCAMRADFW.
Campaign for the Campaign for Real Ale to get a Decent Fucking Website.Cunts wont allow innovative/creative british beer at GBBF but would let anything forrin sell.

soz ben
edit: as a sign of protest I didnt touch a single 'real ale' this year at GBBF :P Was drinking mostly 'merican.
And this is the crux of what is going on in CAMRA at the moment.
One side is saying that CAMRA was set up for keg beer and keg only. They did well to protect it and keg microbreweries have exploded in numbers recently. CAMRA suceeded in what they wanted to do.
However, the Yanks came over here and learnt from us. Went home and set up their own microbrewerys. However the US being so big they needed to cask brew to guarentee that the beer tasted as intended and as few American bars knew how to look after keg beer properly it was the only choice.
Now the UK has jumped on the cask idea and the majority of older CAMRA members hate it. Yet they need women and blokes under 40 to join to keep the membership active.
Stick with the membership and argue the point that cask is just as good as keg. CAMRA won the war against the big lager brew companies and have incorporated a campaign for Real Cider too. No reason why the younger membership shouldn't be vocal and argue the point for cask to be accepted.
I've been a member for 15 years now. Yes, there are many beardy twats. However keg ale is safe now, it's time for CAMRA to accept cask but without the younger generations voice to push them the AGM's will always vote keg.
Join CAMRA and be vocal for cask. You know it's the way...

What are the benefits to joining? WHy not just avoid the politics and drink whatever the fuck you want?

£20 worth of vouchers from Weatherspoons.
And before you ask... Yes the pubs are full of cunts but they really do decent ale at stupid cheap prices.

And cheap beer festival entry.

• #1832
And a free beard.

And the Pub Co's running local boozers in to the ground by charging silly rent and beer cost to tenant landlords because they make more money from by selling them to Tesco Express or 'luxury' flats.

You got the cask and keg bit back to front. Cask is for living beer and keg/nitro keg is what they have fought against. Properly brewed but distributed in a keg is fine. The problem is that so much keg is brewed with crap ingredients and not allowed to mature enough to develop a good flavour. The sharp taste is then masked by nitrogen in the serve which produced a smooth creamy beer which lacks flavour and can make you feel bloated.

Oh an for the record, I joined CAMRA over 20 years ago when they were relevant and it was a struggle to find a good real ale. I lapsed over ten years ago as I no longer see the role they play.

With you on this though recently pubs I frequent give a 5% discount on cask ales to members which would cover membership fees in a fortnight,
Guinness anyone?
