My thoughts also. I'll probably strip the paint off at some point to keep an eye on any more cracks.
-

It'd be worth drilling small holes at the ends of the cracks and filing the edges of the holes smooth. This should at least slow down the cracking, otherwise it'll just grow and grow. Probably worth taking the seatpost out first.
And a double seat clamp might help reduce the loads on the seat tube too.

Well, the spearfish is good!9
In fact, it's better than good..... The bloody thing flies! :0)
And my ankles are happy....

I've had two good blasts on the fish now.......I don't think I'm going to be using the transam much. It's is just as fast XC, but way better on the downs. And it's smooooth!
It takes all the trail chatter, wraps it in cotton wool, and tells it to fuck off!
I like, very much.....transam two-9 in a large, anybody?

Salsa do make some really nice frames.
You did get the X-Large so that I could have a go didn't you?

Sorry bud, large ;0)
It seems able to accommodate little people though, so perhaps it can stretch a bit too!
You're welcome to a spin next time the honey badgers are playing out!

Cheers! I might manage a couple of minutes before my back gives out ;-)

Not with the plushness!
It just rolls the way a 29er does, and cuts out the chatter that was fucking my joints and vertebra up.....
-
• #4086
Might be worth keeping the Transam for riding through the Winter slop though?
-
• #4087
Yeah, my thoughts exactly....
I've also found out today, that whilst it is undoubtably fast and comfortable, it's not as fast as the trans am. I think as well, it saps my energy a lot more!
This could be to do with frame material, aluminium instead of steel, and the fact that I'm still playing with shock pressures..... I did 45 miles off road today, and I was a lot more bolloxed than usual. It's all good training though! -

Boring question of the day:
Tires.... tubeless ready.... UK conditions.... Specialized? Anything else?

Any experience of Woodman hubs?

Looks a lot like the Planet-X (by Novatec) I have for sale

Schwalbe have loads of tubeless ready options in 29"

As do WTB.
I like WTB tyres.

Interesting. Not my thing. At my height if I'm riding anything that wants a bit of bounce I'd just go 26" anyway.

Nope. I like it.
Gotta question the wisdom in having a leaf spring right where a sideways slip off a rock will mash it. But still.

For tyres, I swear by conti x-king 2.2.... I don't even use the ust versions, just the regular ones. Put about 60 doodahs of joes no flats spunk in, and you're good to go. I don't do big jumpy stuff, but thrash them round the trails regularly.

Yes, the hub is still available

Sorry for the double post from the MTB thread, but thought that I'd maybe get some more action here...
There is a state in the south west of Germany called Baden-Wuerttemberg. You have probably heard of the Black Forest, that's in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Sadly, shredding Black Forest Gnar is currently forbidden as there is a bizarre law stating that Mountain Bikes must stick to paths of wider than 2m. This obviously rules out any sweet singletrack and sucks.
A movement is underway to try to turn this law over so that MTBers can ride as we do in the UK, a petition has been set up but 50,000 signatures are required. They're already half way there, but need more support.
Show how much you love the Germans by going to;
This is a German website, if you're on chrome browser then it will probably offer a handy translation, but if not then here's my translation.
Your support would be very much appreciated.
Prost!

Ignoring the price difference for a moment, can anyone think of any major disadvantage of getting the hope hoops with straight-pull spokes instead of the regular j-bend ones?
Availability of spares could possibly be an issue when going into a shop, but a quick phonecall to hope would have them sent out pretty quickly ( and probably for free ). Hope hoops do come with spare spokes too.
I've had straight spokes on mavic wheelsets before with no issues.
Any thoughts or experience of these?
oh well, I'd ride that mutha 'til it busts right up my ass. It's only the tiniest crack (not my ass, that's interplanetary) it'll be just fine.
