  • Well I just went to enter and it's closed :(

  • I've been reading this thread for a while as I'm thinking about doing my first TT. Probably a 10 to start and probably Bexley.

Question: Does everyone have super duper TT bikes? I've only got an OTP road bike (a decent one) with no aero at all. Hairy legs, MTB shoes, pedals and helmet. Would I get stand out like a sore thumb?

  • No, you'll fit in fine.
Don't need any fancy gear to be fast!

@umop you not coming tomorrow? Weather looks naff anyway.

  • I'm planning on coming, and I'll probably ride unless it's torrential. Need to do a decent 25 and I think this is my last chance.

  • 18mph gusts to 35 tail/head wind tomorrow. Rain too.
    Hope 53X11 is enough.

    Should just be enough. Maybe.
Still need a 56T. If anywhere ever gets some stock of one.

  • Probably a 10 to start and probably Bexley

I hope to be there for my first either this Wednesday or next Wednesday so you'll only look as silly as me - fixed commuter with mudguards removed and clips/straps!

  • Last bexley 10 was this week wasn't it?

  • Bexley has finished for the year. Last one was Wed just gone

  • Bugger. Seems I can't read then.

  • Don't they know who you are?

He's cool. He was going to let me enter it but I missed the email and now won't have chequebook. So, thanked him and will move on to something else. Hopefully it'll just mean a faster 50.

  • Nice to see you in Sportiv.. I mean Cycling Weekly magazine hippy.

Yeah, one for the pool room.

  • ^^ there are some evening TTs left in the London North District. Welwyn Wheelers and North Road Club i think have races left. its a fair ride out from central though maybe 15 miles

  • I guess I could look at other districts. Not so keen on riding to work on £££ bike.
I'll probably end up doing what I did last year and riding a single late-season 10 and be done with it.

  • sorry Hippy i was more aiming my comment at ncjlee who was after a ride at Bexley as their first TT but missed out. i'm never sure if ^^ means 2 posts above or 2 posts above the one you appear to be replying to.

  • Hounslow Wheelers still have a couple left for those who can get round the M25 (or just go West of course) in time for the start.

Chris, are you intending to run the 27 mile TT on the 19th October as a fixed event, or can you ride any machine you like?

  • Anybody desperate to squeeze in a 10 but struggling with evenings, don't forget South Bucks RC H10/2 Saturday 7th Sept.

  • If I'm about to embark on a 12 hour day, 7 day ride, should I spend the few days before fattening up or cycling distance?

  • Do fuck all. Neither will help. It's too late now.

  • My preparation for riding 12 hours a day for three weeks was to not ride a bike for anything but commuting for 6 months. Worked just fine.

  • As I'm not sure how much jesting there is going on, I have spent all day eating and will continue to do so.

  • Skinny was right, if the start is less than a week away you can't do anything now. Just keep the legs spinning and eat/drink/sleep properly to get to the start in the best possible shape.

  • umop did I see you today? Saw a cinelli i think.

  • Cheers x
