  • rad frame man, subd for final build

  • I was thinking:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/miche-primato-large-flange-flip-flop-pair-of-track-hubs/
Is there a big difference between 32h and 36h?

    More spokes.

  • With that updated parts list it looks like it'll be a great build, but Miche hubs not so great imo. Why not regular (non NJS) Gran Compe? They meet all your requirements and they're not much more expensive.

  • Frame is rad, look forward to seeing it built up.

  • I would buy the non NJS Gran Compe's but the front has a 10mm axle diameter, which is too big for my frame

Honestly at a loss as to what hubs to get.

  • If you get really stuck, you can file down 10mm axles. Also, that Gran Compe says it's an M9 axle.

  • Yet again my ability to check (or lack thereof) the details defeats me! So the front is 100m by 9mm and the back is 120mm by 10mm, perfect! I'm ordering them tonight. PROGRESS!

  • Are you sure they have different axle diameters? I mean 1mm meassured wrong could happen quite easy.

  • They do indeed, Triton cycles confirms, so do a few ebay sellers.

  • Think you made the right choice there mate, sealed bearings will make for a much easier to maintain wheel set, also just in case not enough people have told you, that frame is rad, any Vivalo with sparkles seems to end up pretty damn nice so you're among good company.

Also I've got some dura ace 7600 track cranks here http://www.lfgss.com/thread111732.html that I'll do for £110posted as I know they'll be going on a beautiful frame ;)

  • You're the second person that's offered me a crankset like but now that I'm skint after the hubs I can't afford anything :( also, I want to get the wheels sorted first.

  • Miche hubs are nice just 2 negative points: Lockring is specific to hubs and only Miche makes it using the finest cheese and its threaded only on one side.

This isn't true. EAI or Phil lockrings use the campag threading.

    Get them here.

  • ^ There's some issue with lockrings and Miche hubs, forget what it is. Someone will know better but I think the EAI lockrings have a coating on them meaning that they are too thick, so don't play nicely on Miche hubs.

  • ^ Disregard that, it's a Phil Wood problem.

  • This isn't true. EAI or Phil lockrings use the campag threading.

    Get them here.

nope tried both, they dont work, havent tried campag yet which is £30

  • Amey have you tried a shimano thread lockring? I vaguely recall someone saying on here that some new Michelle hubs use that standard.

I rode EAI with Miche this morning so it definitely does work!

  • yep i tried DA (shimano), phil wood, EAI, surly; none of them work.

  • Amey, I'm using eai on my miche hubs (which are being changed ASAP) and its doing the job, I don't think miche have changed there hub threading, just their crank taper from ISO to JIS

  • I bought my wheelset a couple of months ago (Miche Pistard Clincher from Wiggle) maybe its a diff version? Anyway lets not derail milo's build thread ;)

  • Dunno mate, could well be, miche just being difficult an yeah let's stop derailing

Miloas - no problem mate, let me know if/when you're interested

  • Right, hubs have been ordered. Thinking of getting EAI Deluxe Track cogs, they any good? They should work with the hubs so i assume everything will be fine. Next up is are the rims which are £45 each. Then spokes, I'm not sure what rim length i need or which nipples. I'll be taking it to this wheelbuilder: http://www.yogarup.com/wheels/
Still trying to trade/sell the jag but as of yet to no avail.

  • The smart money goes on DA for cogs and rings. They're flash-forged in fires of mordor or something.

  • The reason I went for EAI to begin with was because they had 17t and 18t cogs, as far as I'm aware DA don't go that high.

  • Ah yes, 16t is the largest of course. Carry on.

    ;-)
