  • £1.1million chrono

    The trouble with having a posh Rolox is that within no time some has a 'hommage' on ebay for 1/thousanth of the price;

  • The Maurice de Mauriac Chronograph Modern comes in a 45 mm stainless steel case DLC treated case. It is also available in 42 mm or 39 mm if you prefer. The bezel is DLC, however, you can purchase additional bezels if you like, a stainless steel, gold bezel or diamond bezel are a few examples. Many high-end features are included (ceramic ball bearings, titanium screws, for example) as standard with these watches. If the "top" grade Valjoux 7750 movement is not fancy enough for you, just add a partially skeletonized 22K rotor, which you can enjoy through the clear caseback. You also have the ability to change your watch or purchase add-ons in the future. If you like to change the look of your watch, a special rubber bezel tool is optional and allows you to switch between bezels with ease (you can even switch between flat or domed sapphire if you like). Read more here.

    Retail $4,200, Maurice de Mauriac

Let down by the number font imo, oh and the hands while I'm at it. Still.

  • I. Love. The. Font.

    I agree on the hands

But fuck it. It's 44 without an external oversized border.

To be fair, that homage is still £1200. Id buy one at three hundred :-)

  • It looks like a Diesel/Nixon to me...

  • nom

    7750 movement?

  • Yep. I know it's not exactly out of the ordinary but whatever.

They don't just specialise in Omega. Not cheap, but very good.

  • Can anyone help me out here?

I'm looking at Speedmasters......I quite like the look of the 3210.52 with black and red dials crown is a manly 40mm.

On the other hand I quote like the older Triple Date Speedy 3520.53 but with a smaller crown of 39mm.

Anyone got a preference or experience with these models?

Sorry for the lack of photos, I'm not sure if my director sitting next to me would approve!!

  • One week on and I'm still pleased. I changed the strap for something a little louder though.

    oof!

  • Can anyone recommend a place to get this repaired/serviced?

For some one who does mail order, although I've never used them, this guy looks great:

The actual watchmaker I use is Tomian in Edinburgh who are very reasonable. The last time I used them was for my Ebel which was serviced and had a new mainspring fitted for £100. I don't know if they'll work by mail order though.

  • Tenderloin , that Vacheron is effing gorgeous . Ref the service I agree with Bodieanddoyle with regards to swiss time services , very good and I don't think expensive . I use 'em at work all the time . There's another good workshop in Tring I know them as Hertfordshire Horologists , but they also have another " retail " name . They looked after my '66 IWC cal 89 and restored an old Girard Perrigaux I had .

  • Fahrgestell if after a speedmaster . Moon watch . Seriously the only one to have . I bought a new one again recently , had one a few years ago but sold when I was doing a lot of trading privately , classic piece . But any speedmaster has heritage . Pm me if you want a price on a new one .

Cheers guys. If I were to want somewhere I could walk into, in London, would I have a hard/more expensive time?

  • Alsal for me...

  • You have such good taste.

  • On the subject of good taste does anybody else read this thread title as "What time is it? Watches and whorology"?

  • Alsal for me...

    Cool.
Dan do you go there as well?

  • Glad you like it Chris.

    I didn't win the auction.

  • Cool.

    I do.

I've used them for loads of stuff now from diamonds to rolex servicing, new crystals and jewelry repairs. I love them. A proper family business. I enjoy going in there.
