As jadias says you can copy their file using this, but it I don't think it compares the ride against your own pbs, i think it keeps the info from the person you rode w/, who created the file,

I know, it will be my third. I'm reposting it in the hope of dissuading the Strava hoard.

If two people with Strava ride together, Strava often says you rode together. Sometimes it doesn't work, though...
If you mean can you take their record as yours, then not officially. You could download their GPX file and upload it as your own though. You'll share all their segment times, of course.

Ah cheers.
I realised after I posted that it might cause problems with segment times (I'm too slow to care about... Although we did a ride recently where she got QOM, I was a second slower and came 272! Might change my sex to make it more interesting)...
Must have been thinking about the linking together thing that strava does. Can't be arsed moving data around.

Strava recently decided it didn't want to recognise when my Android phone had GPS signal and so doesn't record rides. So I dug out the old Garmin Etrex Summit HC which is a handheld hiking/boating etc type gps.
I've recorded 2 rides and saved them on the GPS but Strava doesn't recognise the device, I've tried transferring the saved tracks to my pc as a .gpx using a program called easygps but it just gives me error messages. Grrr!Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rides from an old gps onto my pc and then onto Strava?

Update, I now have the .gpx files on my pc but when I try uploading one to Strava it seems to upload it ok then have an "error processing the activity".
Give me strength!

Run the file through an xml validator to see if there are any unclosed tags. You can google for an online one, or use notepad++.
-
• #2308
Does that work if it's a .gpx too? I've just run the .gpx though an xml validator and it said no errors were found.
Some posts on the strava forum seem to suggest that Strava won't accept .gpx files if they don't have time data on them. But I recorded my drive to work and uploaded it successfully to Strava the other day as a test, and this time I have done nothing different. I wish I still had that file so I could compare them.

Todays Strava suggests I topped out at 45.2mph but the performance tab suggests 27.7. Bit odd?
-
• #2310
strava's top speed calculation is frequently terribly inaccurate
-
• #2311
If I could reach 53mph on fixed on an incline I'd have to be a semi-pro

Cold Christmas and Christmas Common this week, 250 miles total. Not been riding that much since same miles the week after Christmas last year. Only then in Germany the wind was blowing from the Sahara.

I'm doing a little blog post about Strava hacks and third party sites. Currently got the compare two riders site, the all-the-rides-on-one-map site, digital EPO, Garmin Sync and VeloViewer. Can anyone think of any other good ones?

.gpx is an xml schema, so yes.Try putting it through GPSBabel.

Anyone else having issues with the Snap tool? I got to the generate file bit but it then took an hour to do nothing, on the work and home computer.

Strava updated its API on 30th June. Raceshape is based on the old API, and cannot get your data from strava anymore.
The coder behind it won't be fixing it in the next 2 weeks at least.

Ah, thanks. I'll just have to live with a 45mph spike for a little while

Hmm the changes to the API suck.
Not only did they remove 1 and 2. They've seriously restricted who gets on v3.I wanted to intergrate Strava with Fitbit and MyFitnessPal (yes I use all three) but now I cant. Guess I'll probably ditch Strava and go back to Runkeeper.
Shame, I like Strava's interface.
