i misread that as "how to ruin a successful marriage" and couldn't figure out why that pro tip didn't make the cut as it looked like an excellent suggestion.
i could start a thread on this subject alone.. i haz 25 years of ruining a successful marriage, apparently..

Greetings Senor Bear,
If you could lay on, depending on people's preferences things such as
breakfast
coffee
beer
beddingI am sure you could charge much more than £40 and people would pay. Particularly on the beach. You have let slip though that you have a number of places.
Basic economics lesson here - value is determined by demand and scarcity of supply, so perhaps you should say ' just one place left, with plenty of offers for it'.Not bad though - Good luck with the venture and keep the prices high.
Peace, Love and a bit of free enterprise culture,

Jah Tim,
thanks for confirming what I thought - her meeting me at the beach is a non-starter unless she drives, so not really a viable option.

How essential are gloves/mitts on a ride of this length? Or just this ride, specifically?
-
• #409
Mitts probably a good idea as its a fairly long ride, and the dark makes it harder to avoid potholes (I'm thinking about road-buzz)

I'm looking for a 2nd ticket if anyone's not going

Cheers Branwen.
Guess I knew that already. Will add to the list of kit I need to buy. :(

^ as it's your first century, think about your contact points - gloves, shorts and shoes/socks are well worth investing in. That said its the perfect choice for a first long ride - it'll be great!

Thanks. :) I've got good running gear, which is pretty much interchangeable with cycling gear, and some good padded cargo shorts.
Also used DD as an excuse to buy a Howies merino base layer, which I've wanted for a while: http://www.howies.co.uk/mens/clothing/mens-merino-clothing/nbl-classic-licorice.html

Essential in my opinion, the Assos minty arse cream works for me.
In terms of fitness, some will find it a breeze, some will feel it is the toughest thing they've ever done, but almost everyone will be able to do it.
However it could well be the longest you've ever sat on a saddle for. Worth having think about your setup and tweak it if necessary. Is your saddle angle best for you? Are you too stretched out? If there is something that niggles after your 5 mile commute chances are it will be screaming blue murder by the 100th mile.

100%
As far as I'm aware, nobody has ever done this ride without the aid of gloves.

Arse plaque is a serious problem and it's only right that he should deal with it.

Always wear gloves - hands are usually the first thing to hit the deck if you come down.

Greetings Sparky,
Been riding out of winter without gloves for about a year or so and I have to say I love it.
Bars are double wrapped with Brooks tape and very comfortable to boot.
I did decide to wear them for this last year.
Probably won't this year so perhaps I will be the first ^^^^^^^.
Two and a half weeks to go people...
Peace and Love,
