Another quick question WRT to rear dropout adjuster screws. There seems to be a few different types and lengths available ranging wildly in price. Can anyone point me in the direction of ones vaguely like it would have come out of the factory with? Any help much appreciated.

As far as I know there were three lengths of Campagnolo Rear Dropout Adjuster Screws ..16mm, 25mm and 30mm long .. I'd guess that frame had 25mm. But the thing to do would be to take a tape from the virtual axle to the back

As it happens I took delivery of a pair of screws today, and I got these:

Not sure why there's no BIN option but I ended up paying about £6.They're the 30mm screws and look like this at the correct length.

Right, another question I'm afraid.
Looking to crack on with this build ASAP.
This bike doesn't have Precisa forks so unsure if they're the originals or not.
They're the 1" (threaded steerer) curved variety.
I take it that I'd have no problems using a modern 1" Record headset such as the one attcahed in the link? Anything that I've missed? No different types of threading to watchout for?

will fit perfectly. (fork crown inner diameter is what you should check, but apart from that it will fit)

Colnago didn't use Precisa forks until approximately 1987. The story I was told is Colnago and Ferrari engineers discovered a straight bladed fork absorbed road vibrations and shocks better then a curved fork. I can't date the frame to take a guess at the fork originality but Saarf on the forum maybe able too based on the colourway .. he seems to know a lot about Colnago.

Hi 7even, glad your happy with the frameset, and that it arrived in good order,
Enjoy! -

Thanks Saarf,
Any idea on what year it is? -

mmmm, not exact, I'd say 92-94, round about when the mk c40 was issued, Masters had ArtDecor, as did Competitions. The Technos was the last steel Nag produced, circa 2000, anda few of these did come with Art Decor
instead of a 'Little man in a Boat", Art Decors have A little man on a bike on the top tube -
• #41
it could be later though, as there is no mention of the Competition model in the 1994 catalog,
this is wrongly listed as a Technos, it's a Competition, but is Art decor, and states 1999
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140860919134&item=140860919134&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336525415&item=140860919134&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]
on the later steel Nags, the paint finish is almost shell like around the tubes, this can mean the paint can crack and flake in places,
eg, my 96 master had a few little flakes, where as the 92/92 master has a different paint that seems to adhere to the steel betterYou can view the 2001 catalog at velobase, here you can see a late technos, but no Competion, so you need to be looking at catalogs circa 94-00 to get bang accurate age, none are online as yet

If you're still after some cable stops I have brand new shimano (metal) ones that I don't need any more.

Record headset and dropout adjuster screws ordered.
Down tube shifter cable adjusters arrived and fitted.
I'm on the look out for a nice quil stem. Something period nos or modern that doesn't look out of place. Anyone got any suggestions? This isn't, unfortunately, a 'money-no-object' build but don't want to do it an injustice by throwing completely crap parts on it....if you get my drift..... :) Any help/suggestions appreciated.
edit Also, I've googled, to no avail, to find what sort of bolt/clamp goes into boss on the underside of the toptube for the race number. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

In terms of dating, this paint detail was used in the late 90s onwards.

here's one on Colnago con brio, purported to be circa 96, a two tone type with ''the little man on a bike" (bless)http://colnagoconbrio.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/colnago-molto-elegante/
Those are Campagnolo Record level down tube shift cable adjusters ..
