I do care about and appreciate the fact that they weren't involved in any fatal collisions. I don't know why you wouldn't, but obviously that's not what you meant. I just don't like urban myths.

Did your dislike caused MrsMyth to flounce?

Bendy buses were costing TFL a fortune as it was too easy to dodge the fare

was cycling over the bridge on morden road this eve doing a good 22-24 mph on the uphill bit about a foot outside of the double red lines denoting it as a red route.
as I hit the incline a van was level with me but i was travelling at pretty much the same speed as the traffic (maybe 2-3mph slower) so i dabbed the brakes gently and let him slot in between me and the cyclist in front of me and proceeded to speed up again (out of the saddle, couple of quick pedal turns).
then i hear a roar of another van behind me and i think 'well they can't be trying to overtake the other van is 4 feet in front of me still'. then I glance and it's a police van fully laden with coppers which then pulls level with me (still only a car length from the van in front) and they are about a foot from my shoulder and a good two foot over the double solid line (denoting that you absolutely can't cross it) as we go over the top of the bridge. so there's a row of concrete bollards on the pavement to my left and I have a van in front of me and a massive police van full of coppers driving in oncoming traffic to my right all going the same speed.
they continue to box me in until we get over the bridge and the road opens up and the the traffic all goes hooning off into the distance and the police van takes the outside lane to overtake all the other traffic only to then take the first exit off the next roundabout.
it happened over about 30-40 yards going up and cresting the hill here
at not one point in this sequence of events were they driving like they were off to a call the driver was just being a massive bell end.I am fairly certain I remembered the reg no. who's the best to report this to as it wasn't just one copper it was a whole bloomin van of them.

Hello,
I'm afraid to be the bearer of bad news, but I have a dangerous experience with one of your driver in a Vauxhall Astra company van regs AA12DAY.
As I was going southbound on Collier Wood High Street after going through the junction, your driver for some reason decided to perform what we call a "Punishment Pass" to teach me a lesson when he have a chance to overtake me, he almost sideswiped me while stepping on the accelerator before performing an emergency stop and manoeuvre due to a vehicle coming out of a side road (Coverton Road) that he almost collide with.
I suspect the reason for his aggressive driving behaviour is that he was frustrated that I was in the primary position due to a traffic island that have no room for two vehicles to pass through safety.
I was quite shaken up by this and I must admitted I sworn quite loudly at the driver moment after he "teach me a lesson".
I would be grateful if you can have a word with the driver at that particular moment (6/06/12 at 12:30 pm), I understand he does not represent your company as a whole, but with the way he was driving aggressively, other may not come to the same conclusion as me.
Best Regards
Edward Scoble.
Got a respond;
Dear Mr Scoble,
Thank you for the email and picture that you sent to us. We have nearly 200 Company vehicles so I am pleased that you decided to get in touch. We do get problems from time to time (as you would expect) but I make a point of investigating each instance. I work on the fact that for every complaint there will be x number of problems that do not get reported. The van you pictured yesterday belongs to a member of staff in our operations department. I spoke to his manager who, in turn, has spoken to the driver of the van. I apologise for the concern caused by the drivers actions and trust that the manager will escalate matters if he deems it appropriate.
Your Sincerely
Dominic Day

Who gives a fuck? They were ugly, shit, completely inappropriate for the narrow winding streets of a medieval city, and London streets are better for their removal.
They're inappropriate because being incorporated on route that doesn't work well with the design, ultimately there weren't anything wrong with the design, otherwise other cities in the world would've been trying to get rid of them too.

Ok, I didn't know that the 'Cyclist killing' thing was false so cheers for the info. In Brighton they are only used on one route, which is the 25 service from the city center to the Universities. This consists of long straight roads and they work well on them. And Brighton is building a major bus lane / cycle lane system on Lewes Road, which is their main route, much to the moans of the cyclist hating twats here.
I'm still nervous about them as it's a lot of bus when they overtake you however I still see so many idiots ride up the inside of them.

Last night...
Me: Excuse me, could I have a word?
Bellend in a bowtie, driving big shiny car: Why yes, hello.
Me: You do realise that you just drove me off the road?
BIAB: I didn't see you!
Me: Did you see my friend hanging on to the back of your car, as you drove away, shouting at you and knocking on the window?
BIAB: Oh no, I didn't see him either.
Me: Are you blind?
BIAB: I'm ever so scatty.
Me: I'm not sure you should be driving.
BIAB:
Me: Please can you go and get your eyes checked.
BIAB:
Me: You are fucking nuts. -

I wonder what would happen if the work done over the past 90 years in terms of car safety was deliberately reversed?
-
• #3487
You could probably go a long way down that route by banning seatbelts and any weather protection.

In fact, the Aerial Atom, but made from bamboo with a 600cc triple would do it.

Just back from doing London->Brighton. Jesus fuck all the bellends were out today. I think it people going to the South of England Show mainly.
I would have dearly loved a handlebar-mounted RPG.

I was travelling to the S of E show day today in my car and was slowing up behind a cyclist whilst he was riding up a slight incline and approaching a blind hilltop bend.
My apologies to the cyclist if you thought it was me honking the horn as I slowed down, but it wasn't me, it was the bellend in the Chelsea tractor behind me.
As we approached the opening of the show and turned into the field car-park, he drove extremely close to my back bumper and tried to intimidate me. I had to slow down as I was driving over a field in my little C3 and was trying not to scrape my exhaust whilst the twat with massive ground clearance was trying to overtake when we were in single file!
Anyhow, when we stopped, I leapt out of my car and threatened to wrap the cable winch on the front of his car round his neck and threatened to drag him around the paddock like a prize cock if I ever saw him threatening a cyclist like that again.
I think he now realises that his feckin' big pointless car doesn't have right of way on the road and cyclists drive cars too.
WAC.
edit. we won free tickets and the show was crap

Complete horror show last night riding home from the Nocturne. BL57 ZKX tries to have both of us over on the approach to the Howlands Street / Regents Street junction in one of the most craptacular and pointless undertakes I've ever seen.
More woefully poor driving skills on the St Johns Wood road / Lisson Grove junction but didn't manage to get any plates. It will only be BL57 ZKX who gets roadsafed today.

Consider if you might have been on your way home a Tuesday night social activity at approx 11:37, and as you get to this junction there was a stationary refuse truck where the white Transit van is, so several cars, followed by a number 4 bus, come through the junction on completely the wrong side, is it your duty to request CCTV footage from the bus and report them to the relevant authorities or should you just let it slide?

• #3493
Request and report. Driving thr other side of traffic islands is given more importance than most traffic offences ime. And its stupidly dangerous.
-
• #3494
Hmm, I do that all the time.
-
• #3495
I have done it. But it's the only thing I've seen/heard of cyclists get ticketed for other than RLJ, regularly.

Just had a taxi driver in a minibus driving really slow in front of me and then slamming on his brakes every few minutes.
I slowed down and kept my distance and he started to speed up so I picked up the pace and then without indicating he just sharply took a left turn and then stopped halfway round the corner completely blocking my path.
I swerved around him and was about to shout something about using indicators when I noticed him watching me and laughing.
The prick was doing it on purpose to fuck with me. It took all my self control to not throw my Krpto through his windscreen.

Black car, old husband and wife
I had some idiots (man and wife I assume) telling me to use the bike path yesterday. Yeah mate, on my TT bike. I tell you what dickhead, you sit in traffic behind 1000s of other cars steaming your feeble little brain and I'll ride straight past you. Oh and if you were successful using your car to knock me off you can be damn sure I'd have hunted you down and at the very least got my my money back for it, which would be a damned sight more than the piece of shit you were driving is worth.

Piece of shit driver coming up to angel on rosebury ave. Blue focus, sv05 zlu. Passed so close, at speed and shouted something. Sure enough he's at the next red so I ask what he thinks he's doing. Apparently cyclists aren't allowed more than a foot from the kerb? WTF? His wife looks embarrassed, his kid starts crying. I call him an aggressive dangerous deluded fool. He's reply... Yes I am an aggressive driver so stay outta my way! Luckily I took photos and will put in a report.
Who gives a fuck? They were ugly, shit, completely inappropriate for the narrow winding streets of a medieval city, and London streets are better for their removal.
They sideswiped pedestrians and cyclists, blocked junctions and caught fire rather too much. Should we actually have waited for them to kill someone before getting rid of them?
