Result, got another cheque. This one's for the Hounslow 100 "Group A" prize, whatever that is.

Well done. Do another one next week and you'll knock another pile of time off. Then again the week after and you'll go lower again. ;)
If only there were enough 100's left in the calendar to do that!

Age group prize for Seniors? I expect most of the people in front of you were over 40

KCA 100mile TT Q100 course on Raleigh Team Professional 531C 86" fixed 48 x 15
All though I have ridden 100miles loads before this was my first this year and first 100TTAnyone prepared to attempt a 100 on fixed should be congratulated.
It's not that it's really so difficult to do - it just goes against the spirit of the times we live in.
We should also remember that a rider who starts a 100 knowing that he's going to be on his bike for up to five hours has almost certainly got to be prepared to suffer more (or at least for longer) than the man who is expecting to finish in 3 hours 40 minutes.

Ok so the initial fear of the long haired general seeing these has gone, and I'm bloody excited.
They've got conti gp4000 tubs in good nick and dura ace cassette on them, I'm going to pick them up this week!
My speed can in no way justify them, but I'm training my arse off at the moment (quite literally) and hopefully they'll spur me on to get out on the bike a bit more, the only problem is I don't think I can justify buying a new road bike now...
Love it!! Please post a pic of the trek with the new wheels. The forks on he equinox were designed to work (aerodynamically) with the HED trispoke btw, so a good choice.
Long haired general :-)

You're correct, but only just.
There were nine riders in front of Hippy, of whom five were vets, but they included Mr. Topham, who should be stripped of his vet status on the grounds that he's just too fast.
The group handicap is nothing to do with age and is just based on recent performances - it is an attempt to spread the prizes around more widely.

I'm getting silly thoughts about riding a 100 now...

I thought I'd never ever ride a 50. I did and loved it. So I reckon I'll pencil in a 100 next year.

I love this camaraderie in endurance, and especially in ultra endurance sport. Sure the guys at the sharp end are inspiring but it's ordinary folks who are just out to test themselves and have to struggle on for hours longer just to make the cut-off who really impress me.

Going back to hillingdon (work permitting) this Wednesday to see if I can improve on my last time, hoping for a still day and good legs. Also hoping track tonight doesn't smash what speed I have out of my legs.

There are a few left.
Maybe if people stopped being soft and only riding short stuff... ;)
I guess it's hard to find suitable roads and volunteers for longer events.

Could be. I'll have a look at the result sheet.

Ahh. I also scored a fiver from the F1/100 race, even though I was 8th overall, due to their 1 prize per rider policy. It's a nice gesture. The tax savings now that I'm a professional cyclist and all my bike-related purchases are a business expense it must be said, is quite a lot more.. ;-)

Do it.
I rode my first 100 in skate shoes on SPD-SLs after I left my cycling shoes on fasteddy's driveway. I didn't come last.

My Diamante Pro Radiale doesn't come out of this well, but the test also puts the Veloflex Record a long way down, when everybody else reckons it's at or near the top.I've noticed people on TTF raving about the Veloflex Record (I looked at a set a couple of years ago) but none of the RR tests I've seen recently back up their comments, as you say. Maybe they were all previously running Conti tyres... #oof

You'll have a day to recover. Easy ride tomorrow..
Smash it.

Hmm, I could probably make the BDCA one at the end of August. I'll see how my 50 goes first.

^^ This ^^ Getting help is a nightmare one of the reasons Peter could not ride himself in the end was lack of support, I put the signs out on Saturday with him and he said how many people had let him down, it is a shame not more riders families would step in to a Hi-Viz and wave a flag at a junction.

Just got back from my first attempt on the E33/10 (albeit on Strava)
The time - 28:39
The excuses (!):
Chain drop on the big hill on the way out
Hadn't been out of the library in the past two months due to exams
First time riding clipless pedals
My front hub is making some very unusual noises
Obviously will go faster with a race number attached to the backAll in all not too disappointed. Hoping to do some more riding in the next two months and enter a proper event, although not on a course with a 5% grade hill in the middle.

Yeah I know what you mean. Unfortunately for me, I want to ride and gf is my helper and that's us done.
I marshalled a road race last year as I feel obliged to give something back but it's tricky if I'm not racing I'm training so most weekends are booked. Later in the season is when I do less and can lend a hand but by that stage it's mostly hills climbs and 10s which need far less help.
