I understand this won't fool the Kinnect.

Maybe you could point it at a beautiful little scale model of a sitting room to make it think it's looking at a real house.

You could populate your doll's house with little people. You could give them faces of people you don't like, and populate their habitat with noxious brands so that they would get badly spammed and have all their adverts set to be particularly offensive.

They're adding back the start button (ish) in 8.1 I think (just takes you back to your launcher page tho) but they are making lists of apps much easier to use, which is probably more useful than a start menu?

I always loaded my games to the HD anyway so I didn't have to listen to the disc drive trying to take off

I don't like the idea of being forced to have kinect on all the time either.

having just caught up with the reading about the kinect i feel incredibly uneasy about the whole thing.

not only are you paying £100 over the odds to fund the inclusion of it but all you have is their word that they'll not spy on you and a software based 'off' switch which given the prism thing is about as reassuring as them promising not to kill your children moments after they've already shot the rest of your family in the head.

They were the first company to sign up to Prism according to the slide that was released. It's got such dodgy consequences that I think it would be nuts to get one.

So finally purchased a media remote for the xbox. Pick one up here they're on offer at the moment £8

Also mine craft - Any of you guys play it? I haven't before but I'm tempted to give it a go.

My old dev team used to play it and perhaps still do, we had a minecraft server set up in the office. I watched a couple of them play through it but couldn't for the life of me figure out the attraction.

after someone mentioned the fable 3 xbl freebie the other day I downloaded it. had already played it for a bit when i got it on rental from lovefilm but never finished it.

turns out i was almost exactly half way through and my save game loaded exactly at the bit where you have to grind out millions of $ so have spent the last two days mostly doing boring shit to get enough to buy houses so i can make any kind of decent money. what happened to all the adventure/quest stuff.

thing is now i'm re-invested i'll have to carry on. balls.

anyone know if the dlc is worth buying?

I played it solo for a bit on xbox. Used to just put it in infinity materials mode and build stupid houses or dig massive holes.

It's fun, and I can imagine it being more fun with people.

This was the bit I never understood. I mean the whole game is basically digging massive holes but it just all seemed so futile. There was never anything in the holes, and there was never anything outside the holes. It was just holes, everywhere. Square ones.

I'm probably not the target audience, though.

Fable 3 seems like good fun so far, that and the sega collection, plus black ops 2 with the mrs.

rant ahead, may contain shitty spoilers that will lessen your enjoyment of fable3 by about 0.05%

nearly got enough dosh to start my war in fable 3 now. god it's so fucking tedious. even owning every property in albion i get ~40k every 5 minutes of real time so i basically am just faffing about in game doing fuck all while the clock ticks down and even though i'm a good character everyone hates me because i own everything and they have to pay me rent. as far as game mechanics goes it's not the most riveting experience i've ever had.

still now i'm invested so i have to see the thing through. was collecting all the silver keys, books and gnomes but it turns out you cant even finish some of them until the games over. the silver keys would give me 2 mill and i could probably go ahead and finish it right now but some are hidden in areas you can't get to until you're done. balls.
