I mean in the year, a fair few people wanted to take part but couldn't because they couldn't get an induction done in time.

The track has been open since 1891...
Wish I'd known that. I might of still had some decent level of fitness back then.

It always surprises me that people on here who have fixed gear bikes haven't had a go on a velodrome

Especially considering we have an awesome track that's an easy ride from pretty much anywhere in London.

Obligatory comment about TS being around in 1891...

^ Hahaha... #etc #pokerface
HH have come back to me and asked if I'd like to incorporate the LFGSS track day with a novice event they've been planning for their newer riders... I think it's a pretty good idea so I'm gonna give it another try...
In terms of 'lack of promotion', I don't know what else to do other than post the event up in Rides & Races and hope it gets picked up by you guys... I get flack for spamming other stuff on LFGSS so assume people don't like it...
@ Kev and Louis: This was in the diary before the LO was, nothing I can do about LHBPA scheduling... Shame, this'll be the first LO I haven't played in... :(

I don't believe the hype.

I'm sure more people will turn up next time whe the track's been open longer and more people have had a chance to do the induction.
The track has been open since 1891...
The lack of people was due, in part, to lack of promotion and lack of people getting behind it and getting involved...
No, fuck induction, I've done enough racing on wood and concrete velodromes in Britain not to need to do a nursery session. Fuck that shit.

I thought most velodromes make you do some kind of induction, just because you know you have the experience, doesn't prove it to the coaches.
People who have that experience already and want to race are allowed to do a fast track induction and get in to race training straight away on monday nights, though that doesn't help those who don't live in london.

Every velodrome will insist you have an induction if you haven't ridden there before...

This didn't seem to be the case up to 2005, as I was travelling round the UK racing as a Juvenile and later a Junior. I didn't do an induction on Newport until months after we'd all been using it and racing on it.
I didn't need an induction before racing at Meadowbank against international track superstars.

It doesn't matter. Rules is rules.

To be fair to Emyr I think with his experience he could get away with it, there is some discretion involved at HH as far as I'm aware. I came back two years ago after 15 years off the track and was told I could just get up and race. So I did.

the induction is to teach you how to ride in a group / the pack ... i'm guessing you saw the pack at the start of the race and again in the bar afterwards but were riding alone in between :-)
so no real need for an induction right ?

This was the Keirin. I chose a wheel to be on and didn't give it up.

It's quite probable you won't need an induction at all.
Mainly because everyone will think you're a massive prima donna, and tell you to fuck off as they don't want to race against you.

You now realise that you're gonna look mighty foolish if you don't win every single event at the next track day?
