  • I see there is Madison racing on Wednesday, and training for it tomorrow. Is that for all categories, and will there be other races on as well for those who cannot train for it tomorrow and are scared at the prospect?

tommmmmm. There will be the usual mix of races as well. Or at least last year there was. Miss the Madison and burn your matches in the other races.

  • Cheers Colin.

Trying to decide which category to ride in on Wednesday. Last week was my first week at the track league, but I won the two Cat C races. Would I benefit more in terms of experience by trying Cat C again or by trying to keep up in Cat B?

  • You won't gain anything if you stay in cat C, you'll just win more races for eff all points. Make the step up if you want the most experience.

  • Out tonight, back next week, hopefully.

Cat B was good. Having some Cat A riders in most of the races made it tough going, but I may have even got some points by winning the first sprint in the points race, though I won't know till the results are up.

  • Well done, Tom.

  • I rode in the first Cat C race and felt really dirty winning it. I rode Cat B after that and it was much more fun. Managed to stick with the As and Bs in the last race, even though I placed virtually last! Think I got a 3rd or 4th at some point in the points race. It was fun, and that's what I'm there for!

  • It was my turn to volunteer as a judge so I stood on the corner at turn 3 all night. What fun. At least my presence stopped anyone from misbehaving in the back straight.

  • ^ Were you the BC guy? I wondered what you were doing there. A belated hello!

  • Tricky Business - thanks for doing that unrewarding job.

Fixed Cheese - good to meet you.

  • ^ Were you the BC guy? I wondered what you were doing there. A belated hello!

That was me. My assignment was to keep an eye out for shenanigans. No shenanigans were forthcoming. You watch, next week it will all kick off when I'm not standing there.

  • I saw you lying down at some point when you first wandered over there, you were in exactly the same position as the Cat B riders who crashed on Saturday. I assumed it was a re-enactment. Must have been a fun evening for you, thanks for your time!

  • Ha, I only sat down for a couple of minutes and got bitten on the arse by one of those evil feckin flies, spent the rest of the evening on my feet.

  • Results up already:

My heroic, foolish break to take the first sprint in the Cat B (and some A riders) points race meant I got 4th overall, and 3 more points for the season. Boom!

  • Well done! I have now moved up from zero points, although my name is spelt wrong, ffs.

To the chaps with points in double figures, our marginal gains must be quite an amusing read.

  • I'm still on zero points! But decided to ride with the B's and managed to stay in at the end for the scratch race with the A's and B's so guess that's progress

  • Well done Tom.

  • Not that I'm up to coming along just yet but what does this mean?

'Separate rankings will be made for seniors, women U14s and U16s.'

    More points for finishing lower?

  • Was looking forward to tomorrow, after I missed last week, but unfortunately the weather forecast doesn't sound promising.

edit: now it looks like no rain after 5ish

  • Still cold and windy even if it doesn't rain. Crap May.

  • Pointless night, bit frustrating until the A+B Scratch race. The feeling of staying with the frontrunners right until the end, gaining confidence about holding and defending my line, knowing which wheels to follow and feeling like I can actually maintain a decent pace for 40 off laps was better than winning any points so far has been.

And I beat Dimi, which is the main thing.

  • Another night like that for me an I'm selling my track bike :/

  • dibs.

    seriously though - why?

Does anyone know what time Derny starts tomorrow, 6:30 or 7:00? Here it has both times. Confusing.
