this morning i woke up dead

  • The all-in scratch was hard.

  • Scratch was awesome.

  • dibs.

    seriously though - why?

Not really, just down on last night. In my quest to lose weight I think i've been eating too little and my work/sleep ratio has been too high.

I've got a whole book of excuses.

  • results are out

strange I did not get any points at all coming 3rd in the penultimate sprint of the B cat points race :|

  • I think the points per sprint are:

    1st - 5pts
    2nd - 3pts
    3rd - 2pts
    4th - 1pt

In total there were 5 sprints, with a total of 55 points with the most available to any one rider being 25.

Given that league points are only awarded down to 6th place, you are highly unlikely to score any league points (i.e. finish in the top 6 for the points race) with a single 3rd place in a sprint.

  • Was Cooky scoring points in the Cs an error, or did he really come 4th in the 12 lap scratch? If yes, strong sandbagging.

  • that's what I imagined, thanks for the explanation

  • I was in the same position last week.

  • ^^^ A cheeky .3 of a point to just pip him above his rivals when it comes down to the wire!
    Gotta be an error.

  • I'm sure Caspar said first 4 get points and twice I was in top4, but got no points.
Also I didn't hear or see anyone registering for handicap sprints, then when I did it was too late.

  • yes, I was not aware of the handicap sprints either. I wasn't told when I paid and when I noticed it was already too late :|

  • You can come in top 4 twice and not aggregate enough points to finish in the top six in total, which is what you need for track league points.

Still no link to photos? I'm guessing it was Henry Martin taking them - as he was down as voluntary commissaire on Wednesday.

  • Its a shame they dont go down a few more places on the results. Actually wanna see my name
    #moraleboost

  • Most weeks the points breakdown of points races are punished so you can see just how many points you would have need to get into the top 6 of a points race. Looks like they haven't been passed over this week though. It's rare that 2 points would be enough, unless all the other points were shared between just 5 other riders.

Check here to see when handicap sprints and other special events are (next two weeks are flying 200m sprints).

There are programmes taped to the sign-on desk and every bench too!

  • next two weeks are flying 200m sprints

    That's more like it!

  • Regarding 28 mph / 45 kmh avg, I rewatched World Champ scratch race last night, and average speed was 51 kmh. Extra 6 kmh no doubt a world of difference and world champ race was smaller bunch and tactical, but still interesting point of reference.

  • Will block pursuit tomorrow night be all in, or As and Bs separate? How will the groups be split?

  • 3 separate races, an A version, B version, and C version. This time round probably split on odd and even numbers.

Whoever's 4th (tbc - maybe 6th, I haven't decided yet) place rider beats the opposite 4th/6th place rider, their team's top 6 wins the points. The other team gets nothing!

So ride hard, but look after your team, and if you're up, sprint for the end!

  • I missed training on Monday night due to having to work. Can someone explain block pursuit and flying 200 so that I'm not completely in the dark tomorrow night?

  • Block pursuit - A mass start team pursuit with the field is split into two, odd numbers v even numbers, starting on opposite sides of the track. The team who's 4th (or 6th ;)) placed rider crosses the line first gets all the points available for their top 6 riders.

Flying 200 - individual time trial over 200m with a flying start, usually 1 lap at HH to wind it up. Also used to seed the match sprints in two weeks time.

  • 10 of the current top 12 in the league are odd numbers, the A cat block pursuit might be a little one sided...

  • 10 of the current top 12 in the league are odd numbers, the A cat block pursuit might be a little one sided...

You should have thought about that before beating me to 4th last year then shouldn't you.
