  • Would be interested to hear if that works, my chain does it too, and it's a constant annoyance!

  • I didn't do that in the end but I did just refit the back wheel, it's still doing it but not as much. Matt and I came to the conclusion that the rattle is more than likely the chain. The chain's 1/8" and I was pretty sure the chainring was too but I may be wrong so there's a bit of give in it. I might change it eventually. Reckon a half link chain might sort it out as there's less room to be 'loose'?

  • Half-link might help, but if it's a chainring designed to take a 3/32 then it might pose the same problem. That said, I run a half-link on my SS street/dirt bike, and that's on a random Truvativ front ring and it works fine, albeit without the tension of running fixed.

  • Had a super busy day today but it ended with this beauty being built up.

Looks great mate! Does it ride okay?

  • Can't speak for Rikki, but I went out on it before he got back from town, and it's lovely. Super responsive, and not too techy, even with the huge difference in clearances between it and my Holdsworth.

  • I haven't had a proper ride yet but so far it's awesome. Like Alex said it's really responsive but I've found it pretty smooth, not too twitchy.

  • Now find out what it is and put us all out of our misery!

  • Haha, it's super similar to a ribble track frame (lugs and that cutout on the bb) but it has different dropouts and a few other things

  • Maybe I should contact the person I got it off and see if he knows anything?

  • Just looked up the Ribble track. That little bridge between the chainstays at the bottom bracket is a match, as are the shell slashes, so looking good. Also, it definitely felt like nice 531, which is in line. If so, you've got a rather nice frame there. OH! And you know the slashes reminded me of an Italian name that I had on the tip of my tongue, well Ribble are now owned by Dedacciai, which is either a massive coincidence, or the thing that seals the deal. Regardless, the bike's fucking sweet; dare I say tightest clearances in Norwich??

  • Yeah it probably has now but i had a Dolan Track Champion with a 32c on the rear. That was rizla clearance. Bikes long gone though so the award goes to Rikki

  • Very nice Rikki.

  • You got it! It's lovely I'm starting to wish I'd nabbed that one a few weeks ago. Gotta keep telling myself it was too small it was too small it was too small.

    What's happening to the Falcon?

  • Thanks guys, over the moon with it. Sorry to disappoint a few of you but I'm sticking with this frame ;) haha. Definitely building from this I'll just upgrade as I go (Wheels, stem and a few other bits).

Not the greatest of photos but this might give you an idea of the clearances.

As for size turns out it's actually a 56 which is near on perfect for me, it's super compact but the reach is spot on.

I'm keeping the falcon and building it up as a pub bike.

Same here dude, though having ridden it it doesn't seem as if that's the case. I think it's one of those frames that just fits everyone.

  • Fuck I should have kept it.

    shh it's too small

  • Aha, yeah, I mean, Oh god, it was tiny, felt really horrible to ride, so small I could barely fit my knees past the bars.

  • Also, I went a bit mental with a hacksaw earlier and cut all the brake bosses/derailleur hanger off the holdsworth. Could have ended a lot worse than it did, just need to do something about the bare metal now though.

  • haha you finally did it! Respray?

  • But I love the colour it is so much, and a full paint job would involve lots more sanding/filing.

Does anybody know if there's somewhere in town than can colour match paint?

  • Buy a track frame? Ha. Not too sure where would do colour match

  • Buy a track frame?

Easy for serial bike switchers to say! I count, the Raleigh, the Bowery, flirting with the idea of a shopper, the Falcon, and the White one as ... five bikes in about 3 weeks??

  • ^(Obviously just disguising my jealousy.)
