  • It's not that hard to do yourself, just a case of being patient til you get the technique. If you'd rather someone else did it though you can come into Bicycle Links Weds/Thurs/Fri and I'll wrap it for you. We have black, white and yellow in stock if I remember rightly.

  • It's easy, I did mine from watching online videos; mind you it did come out looking rough and I've had to redo it a few times so.....

Ditto. Look online, it's pretty easy really

  • Haha I just realised that came out really harsh, not my intention!

    This might help.

  • No worries.
I think I did use that one although it didn't stop me wrapping it the wrong way first time. I found the finishing off bit hard hence why I now have the "ghetto gaffa tape" style down to a tee.

  • Got the Falcon finished today, looking pretty sweet!

I should also mention that straight after I took this I attempted to skid, hit a patch of gravel, bike came out from under me, got my feet stuck in the straps (for the first time!) and tore my new jeans/hand to pieces... The bike's ok though.

  • Yeah man, it's looking lush, shame I can't say the same about the skid technique, not that I can judge! I think we should go out and do a beginner's guide to riding brakeless with Matt at some point, could be very funny. Will hopefully see you on my lunch tomorrow. Oh, and I assume that was your girlfriend with you today?

  • Haha, I'll get the hang of it eventually. Yeah that'd be great fun.. I'll still run a brake though ;) Cool cool, not sure what time we'll be in. Yes it was! My bad, I forgot the introductions.

  • Oh yeah same here, no point in risking it I think, but i'd still like to be able to properly whip out some badass slides just for the hell of it. My schedule depends on Huddo, but I assume it'll be around lunch time. Aha, no worries. Did I overhear you saying it was your birthday tomorrow?

  • Haha yeh. Not mine, Sarahs

  • Oh cool, well hopefully I'll see you both and get an introduction and give her birthday wishes in one!

  • Zip

  • Sorry couldnt resist. You still got ya Giant Rikki?

  • Everything but the wheels/pedals

  • New chain, and a rear tube that hasn't got a slow release puncture went on today - should solve some of my issues, although new chain is noisy, hoping it'll just take time to bed in.

  • New wheels, thanks to thross78...any opinions welcome!

...the rear is flat - punctured the tube when I swapped them over, like a numpty!

  • Get a 28c Vittoria Randoneur for the rear. A little sluggish but if ya planning on riding brakeless/skidding these badboys will last for ages.

  • I'm getting the hang of the skidding thing now, does seem to be taking it's toll on the rubber!

  • Gave the frame a bit of a scrub yesterday, ended up taking some of the decals off as they were on their way anyway. Had a bit of a 'ohgodwhathaveIdone' moment but decided it looks a bit cleaner now. I also tried some risers for the day yesterday, was a bit more of a comfortable ride but to be totally honest they didn't look near as good as the bullhorns so I swapped them back and raised the stem a little, sorted the ride right out.

Still have that rattle, I think it may be the chain, I seem to be getting slack but only at a certain revolution? Anyone know anything about that? Also took the cranks off the bowery so I've got some nicer crank bolts to go on over the next few days.

  • Been without internet for a few days, our phone line is down, which is lame. Rikki, most single speed drivetrains have tight and loose points, it's a very common occurrence, but I don't think there's really any way of fixing it, could be wrong though. Will hopefully see you Tues if you're in the shop?

  • Cool cool thanks for the input, I guess it's not that then. I'm aiming to be in first thing and probably not for very long, really have to hammer my uni work now! Hopefully see you in there though (and anyone else who's thinking of nipping in)

  • Ah that's fair enough, might see you for a bit if I manage to get up early, which will be a lot more likely if the weather stays like this .

  • Oh, and forgot to say that the Falcon looks a lot better decal-less. It's cleaner, and now more unique, which is win win. The Holdsworth's decals are peeling too, but i don't think I'll take them off until it gets really bad.

  • For tight-and-loose points, try loosening the chainring bolts a little, but not totally, so they're still biting a little but so that you can tap the ring and move it a little. Spin the cranks until you get to the tight point, then knock the ring towards the back wheel - sort of truing it, but with where it's held. Then tighten the bolts up again. Might work.

  • ^exactly what i was gonna say. Experience before beauty. X

  • Ill give that a go, thanks guys
