Also, kattiep, what are your goals?
-
• #5303
I don't get it.. you're complaining about losing weight..
-
• #5304
Unless you're sick and/or now feeble, that's a good thing.

72.2kg this morning. 10 days since I last weighed myself and I've lost 0.6kg which is essentially a pint of water.
Feeling disheartened as I've been doing loads of exercise:
Fri - 2.5km swim
Sat - gym session (30 min cardio intervals + weights; as per personal trainers program)
Sun - core and strength class
Mon - nothing
Tues - PT session at lunch, 7km run after work
Wed - nothingThis plus cycling 10 miles a day.
I've cut out gluten, dairy (except natural yogurt), caffeine, sugar and alcohol.
Still eating some carbs (porridge for breakfast, lentils and a bit of potato in a homemade minestrone soup).
Wtf am I doing wrong? Patience is not one of my virtues and this weather is making me want pie, mash and a pint of ale.
You should have a Pie, Mash and a pint of ale. It won't do you any harm and might help you refocus back on your goals again after a nice rest day.
As for the rest you need to set out your goals and then look at it in light of that. Do you really need to cut out gluten, for instance, or is that just a faddish thing that you feel you need to do?

I did take measurements at the start. Guess I should take some more and see if anything has happened. I'm naturally pretty muscly and active so it's not like I was doing nothing before starting this.
Ideally I'd like to crack 69.something kgs. I can't remember the last time (if ever) I weighed in the 69s.
I'd also like to be able to do some chin ups and, well just be quite ripped. I've got a tri in 6 weeks and haven't really don't any training for it so this 30 day blast was supposed to help with that.I'm off to Bratislava next weekend and I dare say there will be a fair bit of stodge and beer involved.

If you're training for a Tri, you should be doing exactly that rather than nutty diets and weird regimens.
In this short period you should really just be looking at training very specifically for the event, rather than spending time doing weird accessory work IMO.
This is only my 2p, but to me it seems like eating clean and putting the hours in (including getting enough sleep) just makes a lot more sense. Don't eat too much sugar at the wrong times, don't eat too many carbs where not needed, eat loads of veg, don't booze too much but don't lose your mind over it.
As I say, just my opinion and only you know what works or doesn't for you.

Just back from a beasting gym sesh and now going skiing - pizza, beer, burgers, fondue, croissants and pain au chocolat - for a week. Yas. Lets see where I am when I get home next sunday, probably/hopefully not too far back given the amount of energy I'll be using up during the day.

My God, 81 kg and some change this morning- where will it stop?
-
• #5310
Hmmm I'm with you Dammit
I was 76kg after a run last night and after rehydrating and a 400 calories dinner this morning I was 78... I can't beleieve the difference between dehydrated and hydrated is 2kg...
On a protein binge for the next week as part of an extreme carbo loading thing I'm trying out for the marathon next week, which may explain it, but still it seems slightly insane! Will see how I fare over the next few days, but hoping to loose a teeny bit so I'm carrying less round 26 miles!

I don't really have any evidence for this, but I reckon* that I actually lose more weight when going to the gym to lift weights than I do when riding for 1.5-2 hours per day in a structured training plan.
When I stopped drinking and decided to get fit I was 82.7kg, I've been down to 75 since at the end of a pretty serious gym addiction- going 6-7 times a week.
Now the bulk of my training is cycling the weight seems to keep going up.

If anyone was thinking of getting a personal trainer for a while, I can recommend Matt.
He works out of a studio on Wharf Rd just off City Rd between Angel and Old St.
He's really flexible with hours and great at tailoring a program to meet your needs - plus he mixes it up so you don't get bored/quite know what to expect.
If you mention Kat, or the cycling forum he'll do you a sweet deal.

Is he the one that gave you the mental diet?
-
• #5314
The mental diet actually comes from Dax Moy
http://www.daxmoy.com/Matt used to work there but didn't quite believe in the rigidity of it all (plus they seem like intense nutters) so now he's doing his own thing.

My jeans are definitely getting tighter despite a decent increase in swimming and cycling.

^Muscle?!
Consistently in the 76s again, will try to keep this eating regime up untill carbo-loading official starts. I'll hopefully be below 75 by then!

I have had a pretty major slip.
I've been house hunting every single evening after work and all weekend and my gym routine has gone to shit.
So have my eating habits.
So has my motivation.Drinking more, because we always go to the pub to "think about" the houses we have just seen.
I lost about 8kgs and about 10% body fat, and I am beginning to put it back on.
GAH!

Back under 80kg, an important psychological point (for some reason).
Also my leg feels like it might be better, so I can get back to some higher intensity stuff.

Just had a lovely healthy lean lunch of beetroot, edamame bean salad and chicken.
Then just ran out to the shop to buy cake.

I am at my goal weight (just under in fact), fly to Iceland on the 22nd for the European Celtic Wrestling Championship.
I am just as lean as I was a year or so ago but about half a stone heavier, which leads me to believe I have built a decent amount of muscle over this time.
Feels good man.

Well Done!
I'm now 74.9 kg so 3kg heavier than when I ran the marathon last year, which is a concern but, not as bad it could have been.
With the help of as much technology as I can throw at the problem, compression gear, music, pacers someone to run with I should be able to get a small pb....

• #5322
74.5kg this morning, its falling off and I'm pretty sure it's all fat loss as I can see my stomach muscles for the first time in months!
-
• #5323
400g makes that much difference to you?
-
• #5324
400g = one of those really long pisses that sends a little shiver up your spine.

Still hovering around 74kg but I've noticed recently I've got nans arms (not bingo wings) so definitely muscle loss. Still got a massive arse and my thighs touch too.
Fuck off thighs
but that's not for any weight loss related reason. it's just wrong.
