• RIP rider. My thoughts are with your family, friends and colleagues.

This has struck close to home as a woman who commutes through Victoria. I received quite a few messages today to check it wasn't me and it made me realise the impact on those who have been left behind to deal with the aftermath.

I spent a portion of this morning in a room at work which overlooks the scene. My meeting really didn't have my full attention as the sight of the blue tent drew my thoughts. Just so so sad that we've lost another to a left-turning truck...

  • RIP lady.

  • Terrible news, so sorry to hear it. RIP.

  • horrible news. rip lady.

  • Just heard about this through a collegue, she was a friend of mine, I can't believe this. RIP

  • so sad,

    Rest In Peace

  • It's always so sad that people die just because there is construction work going on in the vicinity. Thinking of you and your loved ones, fellow rider. Rest in peace.

  • Shit, RIP.

  • Just heard about this on BBC London News. Sad news. Cyclist has not been formally identified. Victoria Street is horrible for cars, trucks, cyclists and pedestrians. Doesn't appear HGV had any cyclist friendly mirrors etc

    Two pics attached.

Pic 1 - Photo of bicycle (warning - may not be suitable viewing)

Pic 2 - Photo of suspect truck

EDIT: Photos removed unless deemed appropriate for the forum.

Nor is the speculation about mirrors

  • Holy s.. that bike.

  • RIP rider.

  • RIP. This has really taken the air out me. I've been rather timid to get back on my road bike after a frightening scrape with a lorry. Today was my first ride in a long while and I loved it. Hearing this is heartbreaking. It makes me think about the whole 'power in numbers' ideal. How can we do it without the support of those that run the roads? And I mean real support - peak hour lorry bans, jail for killing a cyclist and not just a £250 fine. My thoughts are with the riders family.

  • My thoughts are with you and yours. RIP x

  • Rip

  • RIP rider. Condolences to family, friends, Harold.

  • RIP...there's nothing much you can say unfortunately...condolences to family and friends.

  • Terrible news. My thoughts are with family and friends.

  • Have just been down to put some flowers by the crash site. Was quite a big tribute there already, many from people who didn't know her.

I really want to put a ghost bike there soon, if someone has made one before I'd like to get some advice.

  • You may have difficulty putting a ghost bike there as I don't think there are any railings around. I have a feeling that anything chained to the lights there etc will probably be removed as it's Westminster council.

  • There are some bike locks just over the road by the shopping centre that I had my eye on.

As awful as it sounded, I don't think it's a good idea to lock it on a bike locks that'll take less room for other who wishes to lock their.

  • Plus get the relatives' consent too.
